Agree that it is too early to determine player development especially at the under-17 level and it's better to wait until the current Joeys players progress further through the Socceroos farm system and see how they run before projecting whether they'll get at least one cap at senior international level.

When Lyon were good and winning the league, their strategy involved buying talented 21/22 year olds. By this stage they are a far more sure bet. They then sold them off in a few years as big offers came in.

It is true across different sports. In Moneyball during the draft they cheer every time another team picked a high school kid as opposed to someone out of college.
 
Was curious about Poppa's claim that Okon was the best player at the u20 world cup. Will have to watch the replay but both algorithms put him head and shoulders above his teammates

He still has to win those duals tho, not easy and he isnt the only person in midfield
