This venture is why i cant take Heidelberg supporters seriously when they bag all the South Melbourne attempts to get into the A league, they were delusional to think this marriage would ever work.

Why dont traditional clubs support each other. Surely if all the grassroots united reform would be possible
 
Didn't the AFL threaten the Pies to shut this down when they were successful early on? Where did I hear that?

um...... maybe becuase survival overcomes nicety in 99.99% of the footballing world. Most clubs and fans around the world enjoy competing on the pitch for real stakes, not just entertianment.

They did(and to Carlton SC too), but initially backed down when people within the club urged the AFL to wait and see how it played out.

Once both ventures carked it is when the AFL moved in for the kill by amending its constitution to forbid its clubs from fielding teams in other sports(which remained in effect until Collingwood greenlit its netball team in 2016)

Ah yes, the netball team they created just to receive $22 million, then ditched them. If they were a soccer club acting like that they'd be wound up and taken to court.
