Brisbane Roar FC can today confirm several changes to its A-League Men’s squad as the club commences significant recruitment ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The changes mark the first phase of a broader squad redesign being led by incoming Sporting Director James Gow, who will oversee a refreshed football strategy and recruitment direction by the club.

The following players will depart at the conclusion of their contracts:

Ben Warland, Austin Ludwik, Antonee Burke-Gilroy, Michael Ruhs, Ben Halloran, Chris Long, Quinn MacNicol and Jacob Brazete.

Marius Lode, Youstin Salas and Nick D’Agostino will also return to their parent clubs having completed their loan spells with the Roar.

Sam Klein has departed the club following his move to German Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli, while Georgios Vrakas departs by way of mutual consent from the remaining year of his contract.

Damn, a lot of changes.

Played overseas, didn’t turn out to be that good. Hmm… oh, City’s perfect!
The Walsall move was a farce. He had stupid visa limitations. One of the best technically in the A League to League 2. League 2 is trying to playing more technically and I'm sure Holman looked better than his team mates but the managers tactics and entire system didn't fit. I find it odd that they were so keen on him to begin with.

The A-League is also of a higher standard than League Two so him coming back is probably better anyway. Should’ve tried the Championship if he wanted a step up or League One if he wanted a step sideways that could see him go that step up to the Championship in the future.

It only made sense that Walsall had very strong promotion aspirations.

Baccus finally got exposed that he was just an Arnold favourite by not moving in to bigger things after St Mirren.

Massimo Luongo has been delisted by Millwall and will leave the side next month upon falling out of contract following the release of the club's retained list at the conclusion of the 2025-26 Championship season.
Mass could have gone a lot further in his career following his MVP award in the 2015 Asian Cup. A professional football careeer can often be a bit of snakes and ladders. Loved him at his peak

Moving to anti football QPR was a mistake. If his profile was just Italian he'd have played Serie A.
