World Cup 2026 Australia thread

Just look at every news report on any Grand Final as the fans walk to the MCG. You see them every time. The cameras try to stay tight to who they are talking to but they are always seen.
Not afl but Michael cain when interviewing simon hill had an nrl victory parade full of flares and the news laughing and talking it up, then contrasted that with the same reporters reporting the footy

Just out of curiosity, if someone got burnt by a flare at Fed Square, can they sue Fed Square management? Because if it is a question of insurance, then there should be event being held at Fed Square, ever.

They could try, and might succeed if they could demonstrate that Fed Square (or rather, whoever operates it) was negligent, but that seems difficult to me unless Fed Square didn’t take reasonable precautions. Id anticipate that Fed Square’s public liability insurance would pick up that kind of thing, unless there’s some specific carve out for flare related incidents in the cover (and that’s not beyond the realms of possibility, in fact if I was a PL underwriter I might try to exclude but that’s all dependant on market conditions).

9News made a good point. Melbourne has protests all the time, many of which turn violent, but they stop for a football match? Lol.
