FIFA 26

The player role and positioning system is so dumb and broken. You want a guy to roam but his profile apparently isn't that so you get attribute capped. Put a swift striker on the wing and he's now limited.

Yep, pretty much the same. I have a membership with EA on PC (Which gives me the F1, WRC, Madden and FIFA games every year for about $150, so I've just been using that.

But this year is the first time I've touched it since trying 2024 for about 3 games, and the only reason why, is because I found a mod that has added every national team, the World Cup and it's qualifiers, and every continental cup to it, which is pretty neat - makes it a bit more bearable.

Actual football games suck these days. It's a bit telling that at the moment, I'm playing that, and a mod to a game released 5 years ago, alongside playing through older games chronologically (currently doing 2002 World Cup and then FIFA 2003)
 
Played it 10 times and what a horrible game. Maybe I should check the updates and it'll feel less rigid.

Yeah all the streamers play Ultimate Team and open packs (hence all those videos of Speed mispronouncing player names when he opens packs). They would make a lot of money from streamers buying packs. I usually play Kick Off, Manager Mode or Tournaments.
 
Yeah I never got into UT. I'm not that good at FIFA so used to get beat online a lot I just enjoy the offline mode and playing with friends
 
Career mode becomes too competitive and predictable early on. I like taking on a rag tag squad and doing a rebuild.

Even the crowd roars are mistimed for goals. Occasionally I'll shoot and the keeper animation looks great then I'll slide in the crack the back of the net and there's perfect stadium noise.

So sick of the generic stadiums. They need to add 6 more for variation in England.

You should try Manager Mode. You get to manage a club or play as a real manager and sign players, play the games as the players, do pressers and even get offered contracts for other teams if you’re good. You can get sacked in it though but at least you get to find a new club.

Yeah I enjoyed that in the ole FIFA's but I believe the new ones manager mode isn't as good?

Fifa 12 through 19 had many good titles where game play wasn't rigid and this stupid player role system didn't exist. You could move players wherever and career mode was a bit simpler instead of overstated features that are actually glitched.
 
Actually - I will probably buy this one on PC - mainly because someone has made a World Cup mod for it, and also the rumour mill is suggesting that EA is adding an unlicensed World Cup mode with 60 national teams (kits and ball licences, and probably using MLS stadiums already in game if there are any, but no ‘World Cup’ name)
