NPL 2026

Its semi professional football, no player is worth $2k + in this league lol.

I think our best player is on $1200 Max.

We aren't the leagues best payers but im good with that.
The arms race down here means even average players get $1000 per match... it HAS made the standard go up though.
Compared to 5-6 years ago there is some pretty football going on down here every weekend...

$1000 average in Melbourne? That's massive.
no, I dont believe its the average pay across the squad, just that "average" players are getting at least 1k... the guns in each squad are on much more... Ive heard numbers like $5k a week.. How much of that is "on the books" you're guess is as good as mine but thats what I hear.

The money being spent down here is just ridiculous. A bang average player would be on $600-$850 per week. If you are one of the better players in the top 4-5 teams, you're easily looking at $1,500-$2,500 per week.

The standard has definitely risen, and we are seeing some good football being played. We are attracting mostly talent from Queensland and a little bit from Tasmania as well. Interesting to see how long this arms race continues in Victoria. It would not surprise me if we started to attract more talent from South Australia as well in near term.

The money is pretty much in Melbourne and Sydney.

Top 4 right now are all aus championship sides, the 5th one is bottom of the ladder and favourite to go down. Bizzare situation. if the league were to stay like this today it would be 5th placed Rockdale who qualify as “champions”.
From a very cynical perspective (and big apologies to any Spirit fans on here) I hope Rockdale or Sutherland qualify for the Championship over them. I think Sharks and Rockdale offer more general interest and excitement and will likely pull much better crowds, and have more potential to grow into Championship level teams on and off field.

Can't reply to the message but the NPL 4 talk from a few days ago in here for NSW - it is a must for Victoria. So many huge clubs missing out, SL1 and SL2 get better crowds than VPL2 .

I completely agree that’s why they had NSW premier vs Preston the first game they thought it would be a Macedonian derby that would attract numbers

I can say I had Fomo of watching all the teams go on mad away days hopefully Rockdale in the championship 🤞🏾

I reckon many clubs saw how the Australian Championship turned out and will do everything they can to qualify. Having Rockdale in would bring the crowds. We need 10-12 strong clubs to carry this forward.

At least you have an open system, the retards that run fnsw won't even find a 16th team for npl 3 like 5 years after bathurst pulled out

Then why not have no away fans between Melb srbija and knights, Preston and south ?

Etc the list can keep going?
Preston South has become a farkin love fest these days... A few turbos start that gangster FYROM 90s shit but that soon peters out and the rest of it is really tame, banter .. Leaving BT Connor these days has felt like a walk in the park compared to the 90s when it was like the last 1/2 of "Black Hawk Down". hahahahah

its a select few spastics who come to ruin it. We are on - 3 suspended points.

Its a fiery encounter and its just common sense we dont want to risk either club coping it. Not that hars to work out

It will happen one day were fans are allowed.

We play a greek backed team almost every few weeks here. 99.9% dont care anymore. Unfortuantely you have to cater for that minority

Weak.

You are only saying that because of the sanctions already imposed on your club at the start of the season.

no football game should be played without fans, albeit away fans in this case.
I mean its not weak its common sense. We started on -6 and have another 3 suspended hanging over us.

football around the world is played with home and away fans. I'm sure if they can separate the Glasgow derby etc, then they can surely police a few hundred people.

I guess that's football in this country though, as soon as the fixture is high risk, play it behind closed doors or no away fans. Weak.
