I'm the opposite; we need someone as manager who cares deeply about Australian football and who is going to be a good custodian of the game, including by taking a pragmatic approach to locking in home-grown players who might be tempted to switch. Graham Arnold certainly did that, and the impression I get is that there are plenty around. Australia is actually doing a pretty good job of producing decent managers at the moment.
Problem is as proven with Arnie & Poppa, their A-League background has become an issue.

People had a vitriolic hatred of Arnie because of his past with Sydney FC and his selection of his former Sydney players like Luke Brattan.

Popovic the same thing, picks all his mates from WSW, Victory and Perth.

There's no way on earth Segecic is sidelined to the point of defecting like he did if he played for WSW, Victory and Perth under him.

If Muscat becomes coach, he would generally cop the same hate from everyone outside of Melbourne that Arnie got outside of Sydney and people generally remember the violent thug that Muscat was as a player.

Milligan is still relatively inexperienced still in his first role as a head coach, far too early to be talking about him as a national team coach.

Except Arnie never selected him.

Point taken but the rest of the post stands.
To an extent. but how many high profile dual nationals did we lose under Arnold and how many did we gain. This is a Popovic ego problem probably supplemented by a an Okon ego problem who seems to be the main point of contact. Both of them have had many players at club level question their methods of selection and man management. I think people have rarely heard similar stories of Arnold except in Japan where the stories started before he arrived.

Probably cause he was gone by the time he was around.
Ange selected him as an injury replacement for Mile. Never made a squad after that under BVM or Arnie. The guy is as old as Methuselah and has been ignore until Popa picked him for a reason. Decent long shot but a whinger that upsets the team, very similar to Jamieson in that respect who Pim picked once before kicking him to the kerb.

Are we talking about the same guy? I was talking about Sega. He was 14 in 2018.

Different - People had a vitriolic hatred of Arnie because of his past with Sydney FC and his selection of his former Sydney players like Luke Brattan.

No wonder I was confused!!
I can't speak for other people but I didn't hate Arnold because he was from Sydney, or at all. I often disliked the dull playing style he adopted.

Nothing wrong with that. We all have our opinions and I was frustrated with him often, Equally I was as frustrated with Ange thinking fullbacks at the World cup are purely to feed balls to Timmy and bugger trying to keep a straight defensive line.

Not sure there was any other way we could have scored against Chile or the Dutch.

Are you talking about Circati? Only Perth player under Popovic who is playing for the Socceroo's and I don't remember him playing for Glory at the time.

Okon's son plays but Segecic doesn't. I'm sorry, there's only way to spell that, and it begins with NEP. Absolutely disgraceful. I can't see it any other way.
