Matildas friendlies in April 2026

The next FIFA windows are June and October so we should see how committed Montemurro is to developing a refreshed squad for the next World Cup.
Judging by the recent friendly games he will be keeping the core of the squad and then giving a couple of players a few minutes.
Hopefully he looks at the goal keeping stocks so that we don’t have the ‘panicked’ situation that we had prior to the Asian Cup.

I hope the Olympics becomes under-23s like the boys not gonna lie.
If the women's Olympic tournament becomes an under-23 tournament then ideally we need to make it full under-23s with no overage players allowed as opposed to the current system because in theory Montemurro could name an under-23 Matildas side with Emily van Egmond as the one overage player, which would ultimately be detrimental to squad development.

True but I feel like she’d be well and truly gone by 2028. Few players last internationally till 35.

Agree but ultimately if the current system is implemented then ideally we should either be looking to fill the overage list spots with promising players who don't meet the cutoff date set like Holly McNamara and Jessika Nash or fringe players as opposed to retaining the old guard which is likely what will happen with the Matildas going into the next Olympic cycle regardless.
