World Cup 2026 Australia thread

Minimum of 5 games in a row against opponents i enjoy watching us against

We arent good enough for me to enjoy watching us against top 10 nations, so I much prefer these 11-40 ranked opponents
Watching Carney bury Germany and Kewell stitch England was pretty good viewing!

It has Graham Arnold as coach, says we have 26M people (it’s 27M), has the wrong formation, has Maty Ryan as the “best player in Colombia”, thinks the All Whites are our biggest rivals, has Wanderers as a top team and has Ajdin Hrustić as one to watch?
And yet they still want to play Aiden O'Neill as a central midfielder also, even after what happened in the 2024 Asian Cup when he last played in that position.

We now have two friendlies a week apart in cities that are a 2 hour drive from each other in Southern California.

For those with a lot of time on their hands LA and San Diego would be a good tourist combo in Mya and early June.

Las Vegas is pretty close by for those that want a detour and all 3 would be handy places to be prior to heading North to Seattle/Vancouver.

Logistics wise that is the easy part. After the group stage things get much more complicated, whether following Australia or looking to attend Rd32-Rd16 and onwards as a neutral.

Yep, logistics after the group stage will be a nightmare. I've got conditional tickets to Australia's R32 game. We will know somewhere between Thursday 25/6 and Saturday 27/6 if and where Australia will have a R32 match and we will be in San Francisco on the Thursday for Australia's last group game against Paraguay. The potential matches if Australia does qualify for R32 are:

Monday 29/6 Boston (one of the three possibilities if Australia qualify as a 3rd place getter)
Tuesday 30/6 New York City (a 3rd place possibility)
Wednesday 1/7 San Francisco (if Australia win their group)
Friday 3/7 Dallas (if Australia finish as runners-up)
Friday 3/7 Kansas City (a 3rd place possibility)

Best case scenario, Australia top the group and stay in SF. Worst case, find out on late Saturday that Australia are playing in Boston on Monday! In reality, if Australia end up in the Boston or NYC game, my mate and I will probably not bother going (and hopefully be able to sell our tickets and at least get back what we paid for them) and maybe try for tickets to the R32 SF game (whoever plays) or a R32 LA game on either Sunday 28/6 or Thursday 2/7 (again, whoever plays).

I'm really really optimistic about this world cup. One of the reasons I was also so optimistic about 2022 was that we had had a whole world cup qualifying cycle with one manager. Same here (almost).

Really didn't help our cases in 2014 and 2018 where we had to replace a manager with such little time before the world cup.

That’s quite shit that if they finish third on the evening of Friday the 26th, they play the R32 in Boston on Monday morning. That would be a disaster.
I appear to have snagged a not crazy expensive ticket (and it’s Canadian dollars not USD which helps a lot) to Australia v Turkey in Vancouver. Got a mate in Seattle that said I can stay with him and planning to be in San Francisco for the final group game. Agree that it would be a dream scenario if they top the group and play the R32 in SF!

I may have an extra ticket for Australia v Turkey in Vancouver on the 13th of June. If you’re interested or know anyone interested, please message me directly. Thanks
