2025/26 UEFA Champions League

there is no doubt commercially its the winner hands down.
Now I follow a few leagues not just epl though LFC have been my fav and pick from way back before commercialism as we know the modern times.
Not just about the $ its the history as well for many - its was the only OS you got on TV here pretty much back in the '70's regularly, hence the strong following many here whinge about seeing LFC/United and other colours at local games.
Its always been a competitive comp - sure always a regular pecking order what comp doesn't and shuffle and even till late streaks ahead of any top flight games quality top to bottom.
Yes Beretta it is the best top 5 hands down - mind you I'd luv to view alot more Latino comps for their style of technic/wizardry and play but their dark arts are one of the worst to stomach.
L1 phhhhft - seriously its not much, yep PSG have finally came to the top after how long considering the $, Mbappe/Neymar/Messi beforehand - they finally figured out making a team not individuals and good on them, again it shuffles the CL pecking order now but can you see any other French side make it to CL Qrtrs/Semis regularly ? say no more.
SerieA is a basket case, mind you Inter have made CL final of late, Bundas normally a 1 horse $ BM race, thankgoodness for Alonso's BK tenure - LaLiga need we say more.
Did these leagues have like a Palace dominate like late in their season ? win a Cup or 2 ? knock off regularly bigger Clubs.
Do they have a Sunderland return to top flight lead the pack early and find their spot in P10 currently not bottom end of the ladder.
Chelsea/City been going through hurdles no wonder they failed at CL, LFC say no more and you can't always win - LFC prime example but where have they been the last 8/9yrs.
Leading the way with City and the rest of the Clubs/managers followed to play similar.
Klopp/Pep EPL era was immense - if you didn't like that kind of football you must enjoy park the bus fests of today.
Thats whats wrong with the EPL right now and they pay for it result wise, like I said can't win them all - PSG is playing flowing high energy Klopp style football imo.
Again the EPL is more competitive to any of the other comps, there is only so few blow out scores but that the style of play has gone backwards, not my kind of game but you go through the highs and lows.
Will enjoy the rest of the CL mind you.

I also did expect something - I actually didn't mind Isak starting with Ekitike - bit of a surprise to them in some ways but pretty much died the mo Ekitike went down ( I reckon achilles :().......
I screamed for Robbo before - best LB still imo.
Funny he started his/our 3 most expensive signings - Ekitike is the only one that has proved the worth.
IF we don't finish in top 4 surely he's gonnnnne ?! if we do make it I'll be pissed they stick by him, surely the lure of Alonso/Gerrard blows Slot out.

Not a bad article

Liverpool were playing quite well for a good part of the second leg but it was a very professional performance from PSG.

Dembélé is quality

thats more because of the money and tv deals.

exciting doesnt neccessarily mean better, they got raped in europe this year
Oh yeah I’m not denying that money is a huge part of it. It’s also why the top European leagues are better than South American leagues despite the huge amount of talent in South America that get scouted to go and play in Europe.

It’s certainly a stronger league though, especially the midtable. Man United knocked out Athletic and Lyon while Tottenham knocked out Frankfurt in last season’s Europa League despite those teams making the Champions League while Man U didn’t and Spurs only did cause we ended up winning the UEL. If you think about “good” Prem teams the list is longer than the other leagues.

Another major point is that the Championship is hands down the best second tier in the world. Yes, money is also part of it like it is for the EPL, but it’s no doubt one of the best leagues in the world.

Reactions: LFC
EPL's greatest success has been commercial. Just look at the Australian rights where Optus was losing tens of millions a year and now pays Stan $40 million a year to stream it. I doubt they are the only ones that overpaid too.
Again, very good point. People watch the Prem in every country and fans from all around the world buy and wear their club’s jerseys. While clubs in the other leagues definitely have their foreign fanbases too, they clearly aren’t as big. This is also how the Big Six term came to be. You find fans and even supporter groups of those clubs across the world.

Alright I’m back.

Dembélé is quality
Translation:

“LIKE ACES”

“Under pressure in the second half, the Parisiens* resisted before prevailing thanks to a brace from Dembélé. For their third semi-finals appearance, they will face Bayern or Madrid.** Having been stretchered off, Ekitike will all but certainly miss the World Cup."

Notes:
* Les Parisiens (the Parisians) is a nickname for PSG as they're traditionally the only Ligue 1 club from Paris (but now Paris FC are there too)
** Real or Madrid in any language virtually always refers to Real Madrid. In English "Madrid" is the common nickname. However, in Spanish, Real Madrid is never called either of those, though nicknames like los Blancos (the Whites) and like les Merengues (the Merengues) are used in Spanish (with the former being globally known).

Neuer has always been overrated. Protected by great defences and playing opponents domestically who submit before the game starts. Pound for pound not that great.

Geez what a fun game that was. Send off for petulance is one of the best things football has to offer. What a response from Bayern after the semi-final and the audacity of Olise. Brilliant champions league football
