NPL attendance and viewers

Multiply that by 4 and you’d have the same crowd as at the poorly attended match between Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC…………

Gloating as if it's some achievement

16K LOL.
Not gloating at all. Context and facts right? No it’s not 61,000 but even a “shit crowd” of 16,000 it’s still 4 times what is considered a good NPL crowd right? The road is long………..

Here is context and facts.

So after 20 years of the A-league, you have dwindling crowds, derbies from 60k to 40k to 16k. (mind you, inflated crowd numbers) and your comparison is semi-professional clubs in the NPL, like it's some achievement?! Oh my.

You are mainstream, you compete with NRL, AFL and cricket. Measure yourself against that, not NPL.

We are no threat to you, however we will continue to watch our crowds grow, and you can continue watching yours decline.

Smaller packed stadiums in the NPL, or empty 40,000 stadiums in the A-League, i know where i rather be.

Got nothing against any of that. Also hope NPL and Australian Championship crowds grow. I’m an Aus football fan. Understand the hate for the A-League and that we are all not supposed to support it, but Aus football needs a successful top flight league. Unfortunately NPL ain’t that.

To be fair, Wanderers have sucked for a while and just got the spoon. Just like SU58 on the national stage a few months ago, what did they pull against APIA, a few hundred? Lowest average attendance in the Championship? Crowds now rising because they are undefeated on top. Sometimes it's not rocket science.

I'm all for shitting on something as part of constructive criticism, but doing it just for the sake of kicking things when they're down is sad for the game. I'm not saying this about you or anyone here, but I'm just tired of people cutting each other down. We'll never reach our potential like that. If only we had the blind devotion of the AFL types, they swallow all the shit their administration throws at them 😅 How about some pre-finals playoffs that we can sell to the highest bidder? 🤮 Yet they still turn up and tune in, boggles the non-brainwashed mind. The power of media and subsidised youth sport thanks to governments paying for everything else for them. Shit, that was a tangent by me 😅

16k isnt just a reflection on WSW. there is two teams on the pitch, two sets of supporters in the crowd, plus neutrals.

in the Championship APIA away there was just over 4k, Sydney United fans made up around 1500 of that crowd.

We had the lowest average attendance for good reason. By one of the last games in the championship when we played APIA at home, there was already a fan boycott because of the overzealous policing, FA & the club's decision to play kids.

I think when fans are so one-eyed about things then they'll often get one-eyed rebuttals.

16k, yeah it's low. Yeah there are two teams. And the hosts are wooden spooners. Not really a shock.

That's great that SU58 took 1500 to APIA. Meanwhile, SU58 only pulled 900 to their round 1 home game, pre boycott. You can't blame playing the kids but not allow similar excuses for Wanderers.

Just saying. It goes both ways. Glass houses and all that.

it wasnt 900 you think you know more about my club then i do. lol

funny everyone measures us cause of 3 home games in the championship, however in the last decade we have been steady, with the odd spike up and down. but now we are on the up and it's continuing to grow, 4k two weeks ago, 800+ in a midweek cup game, 2k on sunday.

Wanderers have been on a steady decline for a while now, so its not just the wooden spoon tag you make it out to be.

long gone are there days from 2013-2018

It wasn’t 900 fwiw, as someone who’s watched games there enough I’m willing to back up beretta on this and say at the very least there was easily over 1,000 there, probably closer to 1.5. Maybe some kind of quirk with how the attendance was counted as he says
