As if a flog like Albo would listen though. If it doesn’t involve getting votes or desert wars I don’t think he cares.
It's not that difficult.

Here in WA we have the Sam Kerr Football Centre.

Sam Kerr Football Centre

Jointly funded by the state and FEDERAL governments to the tune of $60 million.

I believe that's why WA gets a lot of Socceroo's and Matilda's matches these days.

You’re right, it SHOULDN’T be difficult. But if he can’t do anything about house prices I doubt he’ll do anything about this.

its pretty baffling and with all due respect.
Mens Roos been aorund alot longer as we know.
No matter the SK FC is part funded State/Fed then there is the Home of The Matildas @ Bundoora.
To this day we haven't got a proper FA COE let alone a dedicated regular premium oval/grounds for the Roos.
Imagine the noise IF the Tillies and SKFC never got off the ground to date.

Plus - bad timing with all this war stuff - asking Albo for funding a sockah HQ, not a chance.

What the fuck are you talking about, Albo has done plenty of things that he believes in even though they were electorally unpopular.
Exactly. Funding football is not in his ideology. He’s a rugby league man through and through that can’t pick whether he’s a Mariners or Western fan despite being from Marrickville.

To be fair no politicians from either side of politics have substantially supported the game. The last big funding was our World Cup push, which I think was Rudd, and we sunk $43 odd million into a bid we had no chance to win due to FIFA corruption. It's no wonder governments are gun shy, and it makes FIFA's request somewhat hypocritical. That and local governance in the game is pretty divided and doesn't offer much confidence. We shoot ourselves in the foot. Still we need a home and I hope we get it.

yes it was Rudd and Ellis sport minister tenure.
TBH its a big deal here using tax payer $ on a game that has hardly had support here whereas anywhere else its common practice.
The issue overall imo is our Governance credibilty over the last 50yrs.
With the exception again imo was JJ.
The rest - IF I had any approach in albo shoes for the huge payout you only have to glance at the games big picture and think its a sink hole.
How about the FA put aside the US$10.5M they got for us qualifying and start motions of gaining more sponsership/contributions from various bodies - build up a pool then approach the Gov/State for a kick back.
Seriously do these people plan for anything ?

Over WA looking up the SK FC.
State contributed over $55M plus stage 2 funding.
Feds $16.25M

Yeah 100% makes sense. You have a good brain for this sort of thing.

I’m all for supporting the rise of women’s football but what I don’t understand is how there’s a Home of the Matildas and a Sam Kerr Centre, but there still isn’t a Home of the Socceroos or a Tim Cahill Centre? How has that come about? The Socceroos have now qualified for 7 World Cups and the Matildas have only been a “thing” for about 5 years.

Don't worry I dont think the Matildas have ever even visited their home here in Bundoora. The name was just how Football VIC opened the state purse strings.

How the fuck do we have a Sam Kerr centre and no Cahill/Kewell/Viduka/Schwarzer one??

LOL this Matildas bias is bullshit. Went to K-Mart the other day, couldn't buy Socceroos gear only Matildas.

Fuck off ya dogs.

I mean they weren’t a federal government but NSW state governments have put a fair bit of time and funding into the 2015 Men’s Asian Cup, 2023 Women’s World Cup and 2026 Women’s Asian Cup. Still wish they did upgrades on McDonald Jones though so Newcastle coulda hosted games in those tournaments. Contrast this to the Victorian government who royally fucked the 2026 Commonwealth Games (not a football event but still).

A Men’s World Cup bid is a lot more difficult to a Women’s World Cup bid, since there’s more required money and investment involved and everyone wants to host it (after all, it’s the biggest sporting event in the world and billions watch it). Unfortunately it would be very hard for us to get it due to (as you said) FIFA corruption. With the current rotation system involving confederations rather than subconfederations, 2038 will definitely be another American World Cup (possibly another joint bid with Canada and Mexico plus maybe somewhere else). I hope 2038 is involves more of Central America and the Caribbean.

The bias in favour of the Matildas is not surprising.Women's sport in general is seen as the political correct thing to do so funding as been made available for the Bundoora centre and the SK centre .The Socceroos are not seen as a political plus and with many politicians of all persuasions being AFL and NRL fans the men's team is well done the list for funding.Even David Pocock,a politician I have a lot of time for,is a former Wallaby captain and would not push for a Socceroo COE but would give priority to the female side of the code as he is a strong proponent of women's sport .

As far as future WC s are concerned after Saudi Arabia in 2034 the hosting will probably be spread between several nations as is happening this year and also in 2030.It may even happen that the finals will be be spread over multiple nations /confederations and only the final and perhaps the semis will be played in one nation who has the hosting rights.

Just on Saudi Arabia - very strong rumours they will drop to 10 to 12 stadiums.

The only confederations allowed in 2038 at this stage are CONCACAF and OFC. TBH OFC should be taking FIFA to the Court of Arbitration in Sport. They have no chance against CONCACAF and they will never get a rotation. The every growing requirements mean that FIFA is effectively engineering a situation where a confederation is being excluded from ever hosting unless they allow a logistical partner from another confederation.
