Three derbies is overkill. This is what I'm trying to tell you people the actual football is fine it's the league admins decisions that are taking us backwardsAPL should learn their lesson as to not schedule derbies so late in the season as well
Yep, agree 100%.Three derbies is overkill. This is what I'm trying to tell you people the actual football is fine it's the league admins decisions that are taking us backwards
There's a ton of small issues that they could do which will make a hell of a difference. The long off season is another we shouldn't have to wait until OctoberYep, agree 100%.
Once we have 16 teams and can have a 30 game home & away system with just 2 derbies a year it’ll stop those games being diluted as well. I’d also say don’t schedule derby games for the first 4 or 5 rounds, let the tension/momentum build a bit.
If the A-League Men has a shorter offseason then that means Hahn Australia Cup final round fixtures would have to be played earlier in the year and it'll possibly lead to clashes with the finals series. The long off season is another we shouldn't have to wait until October
So be it then the suits will work it out so it doesn't clash that's why they get paid the big bucksIf the A-League Men has a shorter offseason then that means Hahn Australia Cup final round fixtures would have to be played earlier in the year and it'll possibly lead to clashes with the finals series.
For someone who openly said " who cares about crowds" you seem to care a little too much.![]()
Sydney FC win, but the A-League’s best derby has lost its sparkle
Goals from Al Hassan Toure and Apostolos Stamatelopoulos have boosted the Sky Blues’ finals prospects - but the poor crowd is a reflection of how far this fixture has fallen.www.smh.com.au
16k is being too generous.
Absolute rubbish, it's the best thing the league has going for it.Three derbies is overkill. This is what I'm trying to tell you people the actual football is fine it's the league admins decisions that are taking us backwards
16k is a very poor attendance, but the context must be considered. Sydney have been playing very ordinary uninspiring football for some time, and the Wanderers are an absolute basket case wooden spoon favorite. If both teams were flying and playing good football, I think the game would be a sellout, but to be blunt as stands this was not an attractive proposition and I didn't even bother watching on television. Until this point the Sydney Derby has always been a must watch for me as a neutral, and I'm sure I'm not alone in having very little interest in these two teams as they currently standIn wider context and historically, I don't think 16k is bad at all considering Australian football isn't that trendy at the moment.
The "punter" is currently bored of the A-league, they will return next trend cycle. Same goes with NPL clubs, they have their dips and trends up. It's never a constant here.
From derbies that were getting 60k now 16k, while counting everyone and everything 5x.For someone who openly said " who cares about crowds" you seem to care a little too much.
