yes I know somewhat about their investment - but why does it benefit them to leave right now?2021 Silver Lake investment
On 14 December 2021, it was announced that American private equity firm, Silver Lake had purchased a 33.33% minority stake in the Australian Professional Leagues, the sale worth $140 million, the largest injection of capital into Australian soccer in its history. The firm stated that they valued the APL at $425 million.
- Ownership Structure: The APL operates as an independent entity controlled by the clubs and Silver Lake, with Football Australia retaining a "golden share" regarding the good of the game.
- Silver Lake's Role: The firm holds around one-third of the economic and voting interests.
- Governance: The APL Board is composed of representatives from the clubs, independent directors, and a Silver Lake appointee.
part of me stirring but from a business perspective question.yes I know somewhat about their investment - but why does it benefit them to leave right now?

Warren Moon to depart Central Coast Mariners at season’s end
The Central Coast Mariners have confirmed that Head Coach Warren Moon will depart the club at the end of the 2025/26 season.aleagues.com.au
Central Coast Mariners head coach Warren Moon is leaving the club at the end of A-League Men season 2025-26 to return to Brisbane for family reasons. He'll stay in charge of the side to lead them to finals, with the news coming ahead of their last home game of the year against Brisbane Roar, which also doubles as a celebration of Andrew Redmayne's 300th appearance in the league.
Arzani does some really good work but his shooting for goal is the same as mine. AND yes I am bitter that he gets to call himself a professional player and I can't. Rant over. Back to the game, how he missed two shots defines his career.Have had a good look at City v Mariners game.
In the first half there was some outstanding interplay between Arzani and Atkinson on the right flank. It was definite Socceroo quality.
Arzani, when playing on the right wing, where Vidmar has usually placed Younis, can use his favoured right foot for some wicked, curved aerial crosses. On the left wing, Arzani isn't as proficient with his left foot crossing. On the left he is better suited inside as a left sided twin 10 in an attacking midfield triangle 4-3-3 formation.
Some of Arzani's outside of the foot, and shoelace passing in tight spaces, is phenomenal. He also uses clever lobs to put runners through. He seems to be doing this more than dribbling, which he now does more judiciously. I thought Atkinson was on Arzani's wave length.
Arzani and Atkinson had great chemistry and understanding, with both anticipating the other's moves. A high level of game sense, vision and football intelligence was on show between A and A.
In fact the entire City team played some exquisite possession football.
What was also noticeable is that the City central defenders and DMs, and CCM too, don't play the senseless straight balls that Circati was playing for tls Socceroos against Curacao.
I also saw 1 superb sliding tackle from the very young CCM midfielder, Steele. Absolute copybook right foot sliding tackle, winning the ball cleanly all ends up. He also did it with his correct foot. Many players at times tackle off their wrong foot, also the their preferred foot in sliding tackling, using an inferior body shape.
Gotta be Heather Hinz in goals in my opinion.
Yeah I’d agree with the Aideen Keane thing. Holly Macnamara scores a lot of pens so maybe that’s why? Annalise Rasmussen moved to Juventus midseason so I’m surprised she was allowed to be included.Surprised that Holly McNamara makes neither A-League Women team of the season after the remarkable year she's had for Melbourne City, including winning the Golden Boot in back-to-back seasons, and personally I'd move Aideen Keane to midfield instead of having her as part of the forward line.
Best way to fix the league is to bribe the reffs I reckon. Was talking to a mate about how to fix the league I really think transfer system will be a key fix
