After a lot of thought behind the scenes, we’ve made the difficult decision to officially close down Green & Gold FC.
Since launching in October 2024, the goal was simple, to create a proper space for Australian football fans to actually talk about the game without it getting buried or ignored.
In that short time, we built something that covered the full landscape of Australian football. From the Socceroos and Matildas, to the A-League, Australian Championship, and the broader domestic game.
It became a place where people could properly talk players, clubs, transfers, pathways, and the direction of Australian football as a whole, not just headlines, but real discussion across every level of the pyramid.
Running the forum has been an incredible experience, but ongoing server costs, development expenses, and the time required to keep things running at the level we want have continued to grow. Unfortunately, it’s reached a point where it’s no longer sustainable for us to continue.
We’re proud of what was built in a short time, a genuine discussion space for Australian football fans.
Moving forward, we’ll be shifting discussions over to r/aleague on Reddit, where we encourage everyone to keep the conversations going and continue supporting the game here.
The Green & Gold FC Podcast will continue, having now passed the 50 episode mark. You can still catch Graham and Alex on your preferred podcast platform if you’d like to keep following along.
This isn’t an easy post to make, but we believe it’s the right call.
