Why reach out to Australia if that's how you're feeling? What happened? Did Popovic over-state or misrepresent the interest. Did the meetings go badly. Is Volpato playing games or backtracking. It's all so strange.

the timeline is interesting

1) Volpato struggling to get minutes (behind some very strong players, so no disgrace)
2) Volpato reaches out to poppa
3) His club gives him a start
4) He recommits to italy

That had occured to me too. I don't think its coincidence.

The whole situation shits me to tears but stoicism will tell you not to worry about what you can't control.

I wish our federation were making a better, more strategic, professional and aggressive attempt to influence though.

Unfortunately they don't seem to have made any acknowledgement theres actually a problem so I'm not holding out hope.

I suspect either he used the roos to pressure his club, or his club is using game time to pressure his international allegiance

Or perhaps he’s tryna make everyone on all sides happy by being ambiguous (saying to the Aussie media that he’s thinking about being a Socceroo but saying to the Italian media that he’s still committed to the Azzurri). Surely he knows by now that he’s not good enough to play for Italy though lol.

Italy do seem to be declining a lot. Whether they can decline quickly enough for him to get a go...

I don't get that impression. I think Volpato prefers Italy and has confidence he's good enough.
 
lots of moments where you go "oh nearly" but no chances of note and we were a bit behind them

china getting away with a lot of very cynical fouls so they never have to defend in transition

relying on the ref being lenient, so far it has worked
 
penalty!

Xg must be nearly double china, been a frustrating watch. Fingers crossed we can nail the spot kick....failed penanka frustrating
 
For the 2027 U20 Asian Cup the birth eligibility is 1 January 2007 and 31 December 2011 for players. It's a talented age-group that we have. But I think the 2029 U20 Asian Cup starting with the 2009 boys and onwards is one of the more talented groups we've had, presuming a lot of them don't continue playing for other countries.

Usually, the U20 Asian Cup squad consists of three age-groups, i.e in 2025 with 05-07. I think some of the 09 guys can break into this squad, 2010 maybe too.
