Ah fair enough

Any uodate on nations league?

Nations league and 2nd round of qualifiers would give us two chances to incorporate promising young players
We are already qualified for the Asian Cup. the Nations league is meant to start in 2026 so the 4 game window 21 September - 6 October would probably be the most likely start. A 16 day camp wil help cohesion

Do you really think Okon is worth a starting place? I still don’t understand how he is in the squad. Well, that’s not totally true, I have my suspicions!!!

Either way, I’ve watched him quite a few times and for me he just doesn’t cut it yet. Maybe in a year or two with some improvement, but right now I can’t see how he deserves a place in the squad.

I rate him really high actually. Very secure on the ball, very good when pressed, defensively decent

That part is fine - it is providing an outlet when the defence is under pressure that I question. Only been a limited number of professional games but that is the big area of concern for me. He needs to play in a less dominant side that Sydney FC to develop that side

I have a similar worry for scicluna who doesnt recieve the ball from cbs under pressure often enough (through not fault of his own)

In the end the only way to develop that part of his game is to be exposed to a higher level. Whether they can get there before the wc in a few friendlies i guess we wait and see

Don't get why we couldn't have just called in Jovanovic or another local striker for Karacic. Rowles now needs a rush flight from DC to probably hang on the bench. The worst was Iredale from Denmark to Indonesia to sit on the bench.

Everyone's different and in their own state of mind. Bos almost wanted to ignore Schwarzer. Anyone know why Mabil and Schwarzer were so friendly? He goes to Spain often so he may have visited. Schwarzer practically loves Hrustic.

he wouldve been 3 years old during that fateful night against uruguay

a lot of longer players wouldn't have grown up knowing about these legends, but the older players do

I guess so. Schwarzer has also made efforts to visit and interview some. I think he interviewed Robertson at some point for a podcast.

Funny when you stand next to people on TV though. Many are actually really small. Szabolcs Huszti was at 96 training and I thought he was a ball kid. Altin Lala even shorter in person. The there's Harry Souttar. Giant!

I would be very surprised to see a Nations League start before the Asian Cup. There is plenty of time for one after it.

France just scored against Brazil and it's basic stuff. Win the ball, look up and pass through for the runner but we don't even do that. We win it and pass it back or kick it away.

Nations League is good provided it doesn't break up the cycle for tournaments. The most recent UEFA version meant a rushed compact world cup qualifying.
Agree 100%. I think the move to even year Asian Cups will make it difficult for combined qualifiers. I expect shorter qualifying cycles with a single round of 8 groups of 5 or 6 teams for each tournament. That takes out regular matches against the very best which could be replaced by a nations league that takes up 6 match days plus another 2 for finals.

Now that's a keeper kit. Hope we have grey and don't need the purple one so often.
