Australian Dual Nationals 🇦🇺🏳️

This I believe is the big difference, there are those especially on the right who are patriotic & love their country above all others which makes them Nationalistic.
I don't understand that, you were born in that country, what did you achieve to make you great.
I love Australia & my country of heritage Portugal, but I do not think they are better than other countries or that I am better because I was born here.
It’s also not necessarily nationalistic to say that “I think Australia is the greatest country in the world” when talking about life (e.g our weather, cleanliness, freedom, equality, etc). It is however when you diminish other countries however.

Thought Lucas Scicluna showed bags of potential against Sydney FC in his cameo appearance on the weekend. Hasn't made a starting appearance and long bow to draw right now but worth the FFA getting in his ear about following his older brother aboard.

More than happy for both of you to chime in with an opinion and steer the thread towards OTHER reasons you think players aren't selecting Australia over their ancestry .... If you want "relevant" nobody is stopping you from discussing what you feel that is.
I've posted plenty of times in this thread with my opinions. Here's another opinion on said topic. I reckon we need to be doing more to not just reach out to the player but to also connect with the player's parents, just as Croatia did with Ivica Olic reaching out directly to Segecic's dad. I imagine that if a player is torn between two options, the perspective of their parents may be influential and it certainly couldn't hurt for us to be seeking to connect with them on a personal level. No different to Triantis who clearly has a very tight-knit family.

From the G and G Podcast thread ( highly recommended if you don't ever listen, with some wonderful guests), Grazor has said that Memeti and the Glory 20 yo striker have committed to Albania, from Twitter.

Whereas my position has been that if Triantis ( who IMO was nothing special and we have heaps of other good DMs developing) and Segecic ( quite a loss, with skills that we don't have a lot of of depth in) - play for other countries, isn't a big deal, Memeti and the PG striker discarding Aus for a weak Albania national team, relative to others in UEFA, is a step too far.

Maybe the Aus hierarchy does need to be more proactive securing local players?

In 2 articles on Football 360, Deni Juric, is absolutely thrilled to make a Socceroo squad. He wore his Socceroo shirt all through his teens.

Another Football 360 article has Degenek saying it is like returning to a family unit being back in the Socceroo squad. Team spirit is paramount.

I love their passion for the Socceroo shirt!

4 out of our 5 biggest players to discard the national team are considered to be phallus heads by other Socceroo teammates in biographies written, and poor teammates, or uncoachable. Or a number of fans in areas where they've grown up claim they are widely disliked.

Craig Johnson, Tony Dorigo, Joe Simunic, Christian Vieri, chose other countries, plus Ned Zelic, walked out prematurely on the Socceroos over a captaincy spat. All were/are axiomatically regarded as very good players.

I can live with them being phallic heads since playing for oz means others have to put up with them rather than me :D

But its hard to believe every defector or near defector has a problem given how many there are

I'm changing my position.

With new info from the G and G Pod and what I've read elsewhere, I think Aus does need to be more more proactive securing dual nationals.

Segecic and Triantis may be terrific teammates to have in a team.

Long term they could be quite a loss for Aus, particularly if too many others jump ship.

Not just us complaining about the system. It is a brutal one as much as im glad to win dylan
