General A Leagues thread (Men and Women) 2025/26 season

Hear that noise? That's the sound of another a league fan turning off the tv and never watching again. Mediocrity is boring
Lol no fan is gonna stop watching because of this.

Plus what do you want the clubs to do? Not hire the best managers they can attract?

I'm just saying the a league is boring there's no loyalty. I'm a hardcore fan and I'm getting bummed out because we're going in circles.

Two things here. It’s unreasonable to expect Talay to turn down the WSW job and be unemployed instead.

You could also argue that Sydney weren’t loyal to Talay and decided to sack him. Their fans also wanted him gone a year ago. Why would he be loyal to them when they didn’t even want him at their club?

He played plenty of kids at Sydney. Did you forget about Akon?
NM has no idea best he worries about Wellington and New Zealand.

Akon, Kamijo, Walatee, Quintal, Youlley and Macallister all made their debuts under Talay at Sydney.

That's hardly being the retirees club.

That perception may have been true under Graham Arnold but hasn't been the case since Covid either under Corica or Talay.

I can only speak as a fan I think it's bush league. It's not like talay is klopp why would wanderers fans go to stadiums to watch a man they have been booing the last few years

Because they support their club?

I think you’ve also forgotten that they love Ninko who was a Sydney legend

I think MCG is brainwashed by the Victorian/ Aussie rules mob. They don't move much as they have nowhere to move to, outside of Australia.
:ROFLMAO: be kind to our young victorian haha.....
From the sideline he's your best option - its not like any APL club can source soemone from abroad.
Its re cycle and rinse here this is ozzi football mind you in some case's the same applies OS.

What?

I've loved watching City this season in both ACL and AL. They have a good defence, and played football with a lot of possession. This is difficult to do. I'm biased, because I've been trained to coach and impart the City style - and it is hard to do.

City have just struggled a bit around goal. They are bringing some terrific young players on too.

Agh, I've just realised what a profound point Grazor made in the Podcast on G and G, with Matt Windley.

He said for all the football players who play club/school football in England, with about 14 million players, and with Aus having something like 1.5 million who play football, there is exactly the same percentage who watch EPL in England, as football participants in Aus who watch the AL.

So the A-League and EPL are equally popular in Australia?

I tend to agree, I've been to hundreds of Jets games, and I know a lot of ex players in this area, but I've never seen one at the game. I did see Mark Richards though. When I was playing I would rather play than watch.

Yeah I play at shit grade grass roots level and a lot of my teammates don’t really have any interest in the A-League and follow AFL instead lol

Not sure if you are being flippant, HSF?

I reckon the EPL is far more popular in Aus than the AL!

The percentage conversion from active football players to watching top level club football is the same in both countries. I would simply have assumed it was far higher in England.

you poor fellas having afl strong in your States.
I hear you though re fellow team mates.
Of our/my 2 squads near on 30 there is just 3/4 so called regular AL followers.
Few more are NRL followers and mostly large qty follow NPL/EPL and other euro leagues.
My 2 sons team mates comprising 4 squads, NPL/Prem1 teams.
Hardly any mention of AL - go to a derby for the heck, follow NPL/EPL in droves.
