General A Leagues thread (Men and Women) 2025/26 season

I prefer liking fellow football fans - AL, WL and NPL!

We have far too many Eurosnobs in Aus.

In the early years of the AL, on TWG there was real animosity between WSW, SFC and MV fans. If any of these 3 AL clubs played ACL games, the fans from the other 2 clubs supported the Asian opponents!
Oh i definitely go for aussies in acl

But apparently intense rivalry helps bums on seats

The Iranian women’s soccer team has left Malaysia for Oman as the two remaining members seeking asylum in Australia joined a local A-League club for training.

that kind of outlook/anomosity is pretty normal forever D - thats football passion/rivalry from Club levels upwards.
Throw in State rivalries.
You'd bite your own arm instead of backing a fellow Club that you have rivalry with or dislike.
Its not inclusive kumbaya mate :) I luv my fellow smh posters here for eg feck them as well against nsw clubs :)
Never liked MV arrogance of the past - I'd sooner they lose in ACL, feck em :)
Same applies to the westies wsw - feck em I'd never back them.
Its about Club first and foremost.

Tet MV fans talked about SFC or Bling arrogance! In turn MV fans were called Tards!

Very quickly in the second season there were huge turnouts in Melb ( 45 000 crowds) when the Tards played Bling (SFC)!

Then the RBB for those 'Westies' changed the perception of fan culture in Aus!

Have a lot of the old RBB from the early WSW days quit? Love how you call them Westies!

As usual I'm behind in the current round of AL fixtures.

I thought it was an intriguing game, City v Glory in Perth. Arzani finally scored a well-taken goal. A standard right foot Inside or Standard Cut to take the ball away from a marker, then a well placed left foot shot int the net. I've always thought DA is too one footed and right foot/right side of the body dominant - and he finally scores a goal - with his left foot.

Love all those deft Arzani lobs, and balls that bounced awkwardly for the keeper.

Then City dominated and should have scored more goals.

A compelling point Danial McBreen made was that he claims Melb City playing at a higher level in the ACL, in some match scenario do or die games, which was definitely the case against Buri, they were very composed under pressure/scoreboard pressure. Also, that if City make the finals, they will be a threat to all.

It is a good point.

I'm pleased that Vidmar keeps rotating his young talent. I can't believe City didn't win, but was pleased to see Taggart score for Glory, who has had bad luck from so many good chances.

Saw the highlights of Jets v SFC, but didn't see the whole game. One Jets fan off forum, said that Jets were lucky to win. With just having so many young, inexperienced players, it is difficult to be consistent over time.

Sydney FC have given Ufuk Talay the sack effective immediately, with the decision coming after they suffered back-to-back losses following their 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle Jets. Patrick Kisnorbo has been named interim head coach through season's end, with his first game in charge of the side being against Brisbane Roar away at the conclusion of the March international window.

What a replacement to be fair
