Celtic with a 3-1 win over Motherwell to close the gap to just two points at the conclusion of Scottish Premiership matchday 30 and ideally would need to drop points against Dundee United next week for Hearts to remain top of the table.

What about players like Josh Sotirio? Developed in Australia but was never making the Socceroos, so New Cal picked him (and I’m glad they did). I think it depends on whether they are good enough for Australia or not. Daniel Bennie is good enough for the Socceroos and should be a Socceroo.

Speaking of New Caledonia there’s a couple other players playing in France they should cap for the World Cup playoff, and possibly a few here too. They’re a tiny shot at actually making it but it’s good to have good players.

Shifting downwards would be generally less concerning. It gives everyone the chance to access international football.

I’ve posted on here about being a big fan of Bennie, but seriously, he’s done nothing to be picked for the Socceroos other than show potential. He’s also got much more chance of getting picked for Australia than Scotland, same as Segecic for Croatia.

Poopa opening chasing Volpato has clearly pissed off the other right wingers who have consistently represented Australia at underage level. After all his comments about wanting people to crawl over broken glass for the shirt (or put up with the coach’s shit-tests), Poopa’s inconsistency is being exposed as hypocrisy.

Do you have a link for those comments by Bennie? This is my first time hearing this. Bloody hell. I woke up yesterday to news of Segecic defecting, and today it is Bennie. Two young promising players in early 20s playing at Championship level. This is a disaster.
 
Australia needs to get tougher on players of any sport who are born and/or grow up here for at least 10 years, but choose to play for another country. Citizenship, residency, and passport of Australia should be revoked under such circumstances. I would not advocate such measures on players not meeting stated criteria, who opt to play for another country.
