Interesting, one thing i didnt realize till u pointed it out was that irvine doesnt win the ball a lot despite being defensively excellent, which makes the profile of his partner harder to find, you cant just put a technician next to him, u need someone who can compensate for both his major weaknesseshttps://open.substack.com/pub/aussi...m_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web
Report on Jackson Irvine's performance vs. Eintracht Frankfurt. For me, it was very interesting to observe how he barely ever received the ball in his own half - which is completely different to how he is deployed for the Socceroos. His role played much more to his strengths.
I prefer him receiving the ball deep where he is likely to be afforded more time on the ball to play a simple pass. A limited player but his experience for the current Roos squad is invaluable..... but yes whom to partner him is the question.Interesting, one thing i didnt realize till u pointed it out was that irvine doesnt win the ball a lot despite being defensively excellent, which makes the profile of his partner harder to find, you cant just put a technician next to him, u need someone who can compensate for both his major weaknesses
Another thing i notice watching him regularly is irvine is given permission to do some pretty difficult and technical moves in the final third, high risk high reward play, but his touch is no where near consistent enough to rely on him playing out
Gauci one of the best in the match, making 11 saves in the losing side!Joe Gauci played the entirety of Port Vale's 2-0 League One loss to Bradford City between the sticks.
Agree. The second part is definitely true and as you said about the first part I didn't really notice it until you pointed it out to me. He is a very unusual player.Interesting, one thing i didnt realize till u pointed it out was that irvine doesnt win the ball a lot despite being defensively excellent, which makes the profile of his partner harder to find, you cant just put a technician next to him, u need someone who can compensate for both his major weaknesses

We excel in producing unique, limited midfielders that you can’t leave out, but need to cover for with other players. Before Irvine it was Rogic, before Rogic it was Cahill.Agree. Jedi and mooy to some degree as wellWe excel in producing unique, limited midfielders that you can’t leave out, but need to cover for with other players. Before Irvine it was Rogic, before Rogic it was Cahill.
The curriculum seems to be producing much more well-rounded central midfielders, but perhaps without the goal scoring. Okon, Balard, Sciluna, Alagich, Yull, Klein, Bozanovski.Jedi and mooy to some degree as well
When joined by rogic you had 3 amazing players who lack mobility
When holman and jedi played together you had a lot of poor touches in midfield despite bother being amazing players
Even back to okon and skoko you had two very good player who struggled to feed deck balls into the box
Probably grella the only player that didnt need much compensation from players around them. Maybe culina and zelic to some degree too
