Asian Champions League 1 and 2 thread

I believe that Slot's failure to acknowledge the obvious regarding Salah has been a large part of Liverpool's fall this season. A similar reckoning looms for Van Dyck.

Age comes for all of us. It’s already come for me!

Johor Darul Ta'zim defeated 10-man Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3-1 in their AFC Champions League Elite round of 16 first leg game, with Melbourne City facing the winner of this tie in the quarterfinals should they get the job done against Buriram United in the return leg next week.
From the quarter finals onwards all are single knockout matches and all are played in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. I believe there will be a draw to decide the quarter final matchups with cross-region games possible.

Note: The draw shown in this article seems to imply it's already been determined, but that isn't the case.

Machida Zelvia the first team through to the AFC Champions League Elite quarterfinals after a 1-0 win in their round of 16 second leg game against Gangwon which sees them also win the tie 1-0 on aggregate.

Burriram with anoyher taken off injured a real opportinity here with 2 injuries and a red

Even getting to full time all square would be a good opportunity given fatigue hits u harder with 10 men

Six minutes of first half stoppage time in Melbourne City's AFC Champions League Elite round of 16 second leg game against Buriram United, with both teams still scoreless and locked at 1-1 on aggregate.

Am I correct in saying if City win, it doesn't affect 2025/26 placings, it starts from 2026/27?
If Melbourne City manage to get the job done against Buriram United then we'd move above China in coefficient rankings and get another playoff spot in AFC Champions League Elite for next season.

Looms unchanged

I think atkinson mehmeti and arzani dont work great together but lets see
lo and behold the 2 big chances fell to arzani and atkinson who had weak finishes

3rd one to mehmeti but disallowed because of offside

all three are brilliant at getting their team into good situations for different reasons but struggle to finish. In asia there are very few chances and the few that happen have a habit of falling to your weakest finishers

Do you know if you lose the ACL playoff, do you go into ACL 2 group phase like in UEFA leagues?
If teams lose their AFC Champions League Elite playoff match then they drop down to the AFC Champions League Two group stage so depending on how results pan out with that extra spot we essentially have another team in ACL 2 along with the Hahn Australia Cup winners.

It would be an extra playoff spot for 27-28 actually. Our single spot for 26-27 is already locked in. Damn annoying there's such a delay.
