A-League Women/Matildas transfers and delistings

Angie Beard under contract at Brisbane Roar through season's end and will act as a like-for-like replacement for Leia Varley following the latter's transfer to 1. FC Nurnberg earlier in the week.
Was thinking that but couldn't remember if she was a full back or a centre back.

Matildas star and West Ham captain Katrina Gorry, one of Queensland’s finest footballing exports, has confirmed she wants to one day return to the Sunshine State and play for her old club Brisbane Roar.

At 34 with a wife and two kids I could see this happening in a few seasons time. She would be a huge signing for the Roar, possibly the signing of the season for whichever season she comes in.

Katrina Gorry will unfortunately be one of very few of the Matildas golden generation to end up returning to the A-League Women in the future given that the Dub is still semi-professional and most leagues overseas are much more lucrative, which just reiterates the importance of embracing full-time professionalisation if we want to be attracting Tillies players to consider returning home in the twilight of their careers.

I believe two Aussie women have returned to Australia.

Emily Roach. Stallion Laguna to South Melbourne.
Keeley Brayshaw. Spartans to Lions FC.
Looks like Roachy will now be the first player to get removed from the Aussies Abroad feature on here. For now at least. It was quite an odd transfer in the first place.

Keeley I forgot about and didn’t even add unfortunately.

Charlotte McLean has moved to Sydney FC for the last two matchdays of A-League Women season 2025-26 after previously winning a Premiership and Championship with the side. She returns to the club to bolster their defensive line in the absence of key players who are with the Young Matildas at the under-20 Women's Asian Cup in Thailand, and will be available for selection in the return leg of the Big Blue against Melbourne Victory on Saturday.

Where is she transferring from and is she signing for next season?

Charlotte McLean moves to Sydney FC as a free agent and as it stands will only be there for the last two matchdays of A-League Women season 2025-26, with the club not saying anything on whether she'll stay on next season.

WOO HOO!!! Welcome back Charlotte!

Wonder if Cortnee Vine will come along with her!

She left Sydney FC for North Carolina Courage at the same time as Cortnee Vine, then got loaned out to Tampa Bay Sun before falling out of contract and subsequently being delisted at the end of last year.
Things didn’t work out at NC Courage. I think she purely went there because Cortnee Vine (her girlfriend) did. Her loan spell at Tampa Bay Sun wasn’t amazing either though so hopefully she doesn’t turn out crap like Sarah Hunter did after coming back from Paris FC.

There is a danger in players taking themselves overseas. The ALW is in urgent need of professionalism to stem that drift.
