Olympic need a ground to call its own asap how the club in 60+ years hasn’t done it with or without state funding baffles me
Yep, disgraceful on their part. I've heard a story, not sure if its true, but the Greeks had a chance to buy Fraser Park in the the 90s and thought it was too expensive. The Portuguese community bought it for under $2 million.

Would have been a good location for them

Can’t remember if I’ve said it before but Brunswick juventus in Melbourne made similar mistakes by electing not to buy land and build their own facility, wanted to keep playing out of public venues like Olympic park, it cost them not having an asset/spiritual home when they fell on hard times. Know for a fact they had opportunities to do so. Probably directly/indirectly lead to the decision down the line to enter into the mergers which diluted their history and identity

Weird because Australian Greeks love buying property!
I suspect that there was NO land to purchase in inner Sydney.

Look at Marconi and Sydney United as examples of opposite situations to Olympic.

South Melbourne Hellas never owned a ground. But have always had very favourable ground arrangements at Albert Lake

Does APIA own their stadium?

I think from memory lambert park might be a similar arrangement to lakeside with Hellas. A very long term lease or something like that. Happy to be corrected

Inner West Council owns Lambert Park.

The sporting ground is not owned by the football club, but rather leased to the APIA Leichhardt Tigers Football Club, which has served as their home ground since 1954. The site is managed under a long-term, 10-year lease agreement with the council.

Olympic had the chance to buy fraser park in the late 2000's but before that, they had the chance to buy St George's Stadium in the 1990's after St George were relegated from the NSL.

They should stick to the Caravan and travel between Belmore, Kogarah, Shark Park, Wentworth Park, ES Marks Field, St George Stadum, Pratten Park & Leichhardt oval.

Like that song goes, "I've been everywhere man".

I know Canberra Olympic a while back were trying to purchase an oval off ACT Government in Woden (across/down the road from the Hellenic Club, which.. essentially is their social club), but that didn't go through for whatever reasons, and is now run as the main development/training ground for - you guessed it, AFL Canberra and Cricket ACT.

The current Barton Park should’ve been made into a similar size as its was before

Share it between Olympic and St George

Even at one point was said to have the Socceroos “Centre of excellence” all we got a was a 5 row grandstand with 2 other grass pitches disappointing

There's about 3 other pitches behind the main one and the training one.
