I wasn't talking about Iran, that is a given with the sectarian divides in the Middle East.Tell that to 50% of the country.... Sorry I meant Iran if that wasn't clear...
Even here.... everyone has the right to an opinion, just because you or I say it is wrong, doesn't mean these people can't mourn, who they think there spiritual leader is... If they incite violence then deport the fuckers I agree but you cant stop people fro believing what they want to... Would you kick Catholics out for mourning the death of the Pope?I wasn't talking about Iran, that is a given with the sectarian divides in the Middle East.
I was referring to here in Australia.
The last bit is a nonsensical strawman argument so won't dignify it with a response.Even here.... everyone has the right to an opinion, just because you or I say it is wrong, doesn't mean these people can't mourn, who they think there spiritual leader is... "Western Society" right .... gottcha Good luck with your pogrom, hope you dont get hurt....The last bit is a nonsensical strawman argument so won't dignify it with a response.
As for the rest, Khameini was literally responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of his own people and was considered a terrorist by 99% of the Western world.
Anyone who mourns an individual like Khameini in this country is clearly hostile to Western society and should forfeit their right to live in this country.
Mate, I'm not even going to dignify that with a response, you do you."Western Society" right .... gottcha Good luck with your pogrom, hope you dont get hurt....

I don't think that's been communicated. Just the vague "there's an imminent threat" that wasn't further defined. Because it probably didn't exist.Seriously though, has any goal of this be stated by the US?
I am skeptical it's 'regime change', as they'd need to have a functioning government already organised to lead, and/or a new constitution written.
It would also take a lot of intervention and resources to effectively implement.
They've aparently been two weeks away from a nuclear bomb for 30 yearsI don't think that's been communicated. Just the vague "there's an imminent threat" that wasn't further defined. Because it probably didn't exist.
I mean I think we know by threat to USA they mean threat to Israel. Best they can do is bomb some targets and make the strait of Hormuz dangerous. It's a helpful distraction for someone though. They've aparently been two weeks away from a nuclear bomb for 30 years
Yeah they suck and are pieces of shit, but what threat are they to USA? There's something like 90 US military bases surrounding them

Failure of US-Iran talks was all too predictable — but turning to military strikes creates dangerous unknowns
Silence from the US side after a third round of indirect talks and frustration expressed by President Donald Trump set the stage for military strikes.theconversation.com
Yet most Iranians want their leadership gone and something new. For that to happen, foreign intervention was probably always the only way. The people wouldn't be able to overthrow the Mullahs.
A year of diplomacy led to nothing and Iran taunted and played games. That combined with recent protests shows it's time for change. Notice how there is very little condemnation of these strikes. Even the Gulf states being hit aren't shouted 'you idiots' to those running it.
Bombing for peace!Ah, the western world. The bastions of moral civility and democratic guidance. The bringers of peace and stability.
If the western world says it, it must be true.
There has always been plenty going on in the background. Whether it be opponents within the country or those exiled. In the end a lot of things happen without planning and then the benefit of hindsight is used to assess it.No. For that to happen you need a plan.
Not just bomb someone.
Unless the are hiding some well thought out plan to get the country on its feet following this, with a vision and timeline for the next few years then we can question if change is objective
I don't think this is a western only aspect.Ah, the western world. The bastions of moral civility and democratic guidance. The bringers of peace and stability.
