Messarouni for Lackey 70th minute was the only sub tonight so you'd think we start

Charleston
O'Sullivan inglese Eliopoulos Burchmore
Pope meneleu Leech
Bonada Singh skapoluas

Bench from:
Trenkov
Papadimitriou
Durso
Dovison
Lackey
Coveny (might be injured? As he hasent played ressies)
Killick

Not missing our 11 from tonight is tough but I reckon this team could still be capable

That team will get massacred lol.

Play Lopez tomorrow, had nothing to do apart from penalty save.
Agree fully regarding lopez... think cox should also play here as well as swibbel... Lackey can start perhaps think we need something more in midfield for atleast 1 half.... bonada skapoulas (not at back plz) could work but not for 90

Paisley park is a big ground and we will struggle to defend it with what we will have at our disposal. Lackey looks unfit to me, was breathing out of his ass. Cocks looked spent as well.

We have a rough idea of what will start tomorrow but it will be interesting to see if any of our main players are on the bench.

Without Pasquale, Giannokopoulos and Uchida + both full backs surely rested i dont see how this isnt far off what we saw against Hume.

Ita a shame our 3rd and 4th goals came so late. If we were switched on from the start and put them to the sword we could have made early subs.

We thoroughly deserved to win that match against South Island United. To be honest, I thought the opposition was poor, which adds to the frustration of drawing 3-3 against them in the second hub. Thought the penalty was really soft but Painter-Andrews was clumsy in his challenge. Kudos to Lopez who yet again saved another penalty. Mind you, Painter-Andrews had a really poor first half.

We are conceding too many stupid goals from defensive errors. Tonight’s defensive error was comical - 2 defenders trying to header the ball out concurrently!

Team battled to overcome the stupid goal conceded. It was important to go into the halftime break leading.

The second half was just a South procession. We dominated the play and should have scored a few more goals to boost the goal difference. Uchida, Cocks, Pasquali, Lopez were amazing today.

I was surprised that we started such a strong starting XI. It explains why we couldn’t make too many substitutions.

I think we started too many of our best starting XI tonight. I would have held 1-2 players back for Saturday’s match against Altona Magic.

That starting XI looks about right. You might have Swibel and Cocks on the bench just in case we need to play them for the last 10-15 minutes. Players such Menelaou, O’Sullivan, Leech, and Inglese will definitely need to step up and be counted. If they want to be considered first team starters, they need to put in a big performance against Altona Magic.

Lackay will need to play at least 30 minutes and Mesorouni about 15-20 minutes against Altona Magic. I can see them coming on later in the match to provide some relief.

Just watched Sinisa’s post-match interview. He said the players that played tonight won’t be utilised against Altona Magic. They’ll be rested for the Solomon Kings and Bentleigh matches the following week.

That was so frustrating tonight. We could have rested players from the 60th minute mark if we had scored a few more goals earlier.

I’m telling you, they need to cancel these postponed matches. EVERYONE makes the finals anyway!

Phew … this game could quite easily have been postponed or abandoned. There was terrible weather all over Melbourne!

Lightning everywhere tonight! Thankfully not too close to the ground to cause issue.

Assuming we lose tomorrow the 2 fixtures at the HOTM next week become massive. The result against the Soloman Kings will literally decide what team we send to the next hub, meanwhile we will need to beat Bentleigh to get our season back to 2 wins 2 losses. Im expecting big crowds for both games as well.

Alternatively I would just as easily be happy with a freakish win tmrw with a second string and then a very lean side vs BG next week to give the a solid rest... still at 2 and 2 as we would like to be.

We have the same win-loss record as Altona Magic but the game tomorrow will be more important for us since we're balancing two competitions whereas they have just the one, but having said that we should easily come away next week with either a 2-2 or 3-1 record in NPL given our favourable recent history at Home of the Matildas.

Who are some of the players in the OFC Pro League we should be looking at for the midseason transfer window? Auckland has 2-3 players that look good. South Island has Feutz and Yoo which look good too.

Reminder that their players would be imports for us mid season. As it stands bonada yuki and Singh are our imports so we would only be able to get Aussies players
Good point

Without being cruel to Singh, if you have an option to upgrade to a better striker, you’d release Singh.

If we are being truly strategic, we should treat the midseason transfer window as an opportunity to improve the depth and quality of the squad given we’ll have NPL finals, Australia Cup and Australian Championship.

100% this..
Feutz for sure...
Bayliss (mf) & Mason (gk) Ackland would be great succession get.

And atleast 1 key centre back..

By then we more likely to perhaps picl up players on fringe of AL better.
