I don't know what's going in with that website. Their "source" is A-Leagues but I can't find anything about it. I'm sceptical.

Thanks. Not sure why the article says “W-League” though, the ALW hasn’t been called that since 2021.

as much I would love to see a derby here , it would be football suicide in my opinion if they accept freo only as the glory here are still trying to re build like they are a new club.

I mean that's still a cool idea. Would they be just South Island United's A team and have the B team in the OFC Pro League like Auckland FC does?

Speaking of NZ, the Distance Derby needs an update. It's now Auckland that's further, not Wellington. Christchurch is the closest to Perth of the three (if you count Dunedin then Dunedin is the closest).

There's no guarantee that South Island United will be the preferred bid for the Christchurch expansion side though, but if they were you'd expect that to be the case.
