Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

On a side note, I heard there were issues with the new social club operator. Apparently the souvlakis were $20 but were not comprised of gyros. I don't know why the club struggles to offer a decent food offering. Most clubs can do it.
 
It would not surprise me if we don't see such a high number of changes to starting XIs again. Siki has now seen what he has at his disposal, and may be more conservative in the NPL Victoria competition moving forward. My gut feel tells me that they'll focus on getting 4 straight wins in the Melbourne hub, and then back off for the next hub.

In fact the only franchise Im willing to bet would welcome us back is Perth. and maybe ... maybe Brisbane. All the rest have too much to lose.

Victory and City would block us from entering. The A League door is closed to us for the foreseeable future.

Ive heard that repeatedly but still struggle to believe it... Last night had some really nasty throwback vibes to the turning point last year... We get excited playing an "important" match and think we can be smart resting players for a "bigger future" A bird in the hand is worth a million in the bush... These distractions aside, the squad we saw last weekend against Avondale is good enough to win the title in both NPL and Australian Championship AND go far in Aus cup especially since we have auto entry to Rnd 32.. At least it would be without having to rottate for traqvel and hubs and whatever. OFC Pro league is holding us back..... an unnecessary vanity project (at least my opinion).

There have been 6 in the OFC so far and 2 in the NPL...

Pehaps they should be wary of false advertising. A hot dog roll (which was decent) 2 pieces of tomato , 3 litres of coles brand tzatziki and 6 chunks of chicken kalamaki is NOT worth $20 and NOT

What if Auckland beats us and we are held in the other games, then what? Its not like we can lock in 12 points.

Lets not forget we have an ofc game next friday and npl on Saturday.

First test has been failed...i think we are gonna have to make a decision shortly but we always get our pants pulled down when we underestimate the npl.

EXACTLY what Im saying.... And with Hume and Altona bookmarking our OCL matches this week it was meant to be the "easy" period... I was sort of semi interested in going to the OFC to see is play some new and strange opposition for a change, but now Im just stressed about the whole thing.....

Any match is winnable and losable.

The next 7 days will show whether the club can handles both competitions. If it cannot, then it will need to prioritise one over the other.
 
Only 12 points in ofc melb hub can justify what happened last night and what will likely happen next Saturday. Cos that will mean we shouldnt need much more to secure top 4 in ofc and can send our bums to the overseas hubs. Personally we have overextended ourselves and its simply too many games for a team whose squad is bang average outside our best 16.

From what I heard, it was a skewer rather than gyros cooked over charcoal.

I reckon you're right. This has shown our squad depth quality is not deep enough.

Four straight wins, and other favourable results from teams placed 5-8 should hopefully be enough to pretty much lock in finals in the OFC Pro League.

We should have won by a few goals. We really needed to be far more accurate and clinical in front of goals. Uchida, Eliopoulos, Pasquali, Cocks, Bonada and Giannakopoulos were great tonight. Cocks is proving to be a good signing.

I would have liked to seen Singh be given at least 15 minutes upfront. Hes a tall strong body so he have helped with the long balls into the box.

couldnt have put it better.... Eliopoulos was standout.. they were a well worked smart side though... geez they can run and yhat right back of theirs is standout.. we should have one eye in those AL fringe players bc thats what should be coming in as a priority when transfer window opens.

start Cox here and perhaps look to rest something more in the midfield..otherwise start strong and sub early.

100% all for giving a chance but offers very little and doesnt suit our gameplay this type of striker.i think similar but Perhaps we start with Singh as a focal point
