Summer of Cricket thread

Sorry to say but I predicted we'd be made to look useless against spin on these tracks, with no Smith, Handscomb, Philippe, Jason Sangha, imho our best spin players and all good strikers of a white ball. Bailey and co keep hanging onto guys that suck in sub continental conditions.
Renshaw has looked okay.

Impressed with Hatcher, Hadley, Stobo and Jack Edwards, all bowling on a juicy pitch. All pace bowlers bowled a good line.
Like I say all the Blues bowlers were assisted massively by the pitch, what I call a green mamba. Hadley career @33, Hatcher @30, NOT first class standard, prob Hatcher qualifies this season, but has been given a piggy back by the bowler friendly surfaces. Stobo just makes the cut.

Very good day for NSW against Tas though on Day 1.
Queensland also doing well against South Australia in their Shield game, but it's been a low-scoring affair in the first innings with Jimmy Peirson the only player to post a half century in their total of 185 all out, and South Australia currently 6-107 after drinks in the opening session of day 2.

NSW squad: Jack Edwards (c), Charlie Anderson, Joel Davies, Peter Francis, Ryan Hadley, Liam Hatcher, Sam Konstas, Kurtis Patterson, Josh Philippe, Will Salzmann, Tanveer Sangha, Lachlan Shaw, Charlie Stobo

When I saw the name in bold I was stoked. Tells me Charlie Anderson is close to a full Blues contract. Imho he is the best paceman to emerge from the Blues pathway since Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins. Unfortunately Charlie missed the cut but the current quicks have been put on notice by him and Peter Francis. Both should be given the remaining two matches of the season.

back to back sixes and its just 14 off 19 needed. Game over, very poor this tournament Australia and once again we just have too many in key positions of power in Australia not taking t20 seriously
Sorry to say but I predicted this batting lineup would be ineffective in sub continental conditions. Bailey and Macca are the ones not taking T20 seriously by continually giving gigs to guys that suck on spinning tracks. An educated guess India and Sri Lanka will play the final.

Salzman barely played a false shot though
In footage I saw he edged three thru the slips cordon before he had scored 30. Konstas was the steadier of the two for mine, just misjudged the length of one he shud've deposited over the fence. Both have a healthy future.

It is hard to remember who played which shots, Richie - as they are both right handers.

So Konstas might have been unlucky. He might have played a few of the exquisite shots too.

Bellerive not as green today but there is still some seam movement like from the one Shaw just edged and Webster appeared to drop.

Zimbabwe's T20 World Cup game against Ireland currently in a rain delay, with Australia being grouped and the coaching staff no doubt getting a dressing-down upon their ignominious return home should the match be washed out.

Zimbabwe's T20 World Cup game against Ireland abandoned without a ball bowled meaning that Australia's disastrous campaign comes to an end at the group stage, with a dead rubber against Oman our last match on Friday local time.

First time in 17 years we have been knocked out in the group phase in a world cup for an ODI or T20 format.

Embarrassing.
I won't be surprised if the higher-ups at Cricket Australia end up giving some selectors and even the coaching staff the sack especially with how badly we performed over there despite our generally favourable record in the subcontinent.

At what point do you stop protecting certain players?
Heads must roll. No more 'jobs for the boys', Bailey, McDonald prime culprits. I am sacking Bailey and his fellow selector while retirement may save several veteran players the embarrassment of being axed.

2/20 and 64 runs in a red baller for his club University
Louis Smith took two more wickets and hit #19 in the second innings too, so had a very productive match. I'd like him to replace Owen for the remaining two matches.

Philippe throws away a deserved ton after showing caution for most of his innings. Tassie now have a minor opening. At tea they were 1-84.

Head should really roll, but it feels like Aus does not take T20 too seriously, so I can't imagine that they would take it that seriously.

DC two youngsters will be thanking the new injury substitute rule, Charlie Anderson on debut for Jack Edwards and Aidan O'Connor for Gabe Bell. Charlie obviously feeling nerves as he took some stick. Expect he will perform better after dusk when the pink ball can play tricks.
