Big Ange thread

ummm dude no disrespect but how old are you?

Do you have ANY awareness of football in this country pre-Aleague?
Born 1998, so yeah I was born in the dying years of the NSL. I’m aware of what happened though, which is why I said it’s good that the old NSL clubs didn’t try and get rid of their identities. As I’ve said before I actually like that NPL clubs have such strong cultural links.

South DID apply to join the Aleague on 3 separate occasions, one of which (Southern Cross bid) was indeed us discarding our "identity" as you call it. In fact the very fact we are called South Melbourne FC and NOT South Melbourne Hellas is because of the various *cough reformers * of the NSL days and attempts to whitewash/dilute our ethnicity.. Its not a new concept. The FFA's NCIP was the spiritual ancestor of clubs being forced to adopt "Knights" or "Pumas" or "Lakers".

AS for the Juve name ... HAHAHAAH Im not touching that one with a 10 foot pole, at last count there were 3,475 clubs in Australia laying claim to that name... hahahah

Interesting to hear Ange knew he was gone around January then said to the coaching staff to go all out for the Europa League and he'll take the hit for sacrificing the league.

In the end he won something and what has transpired has demonstrated the rotten core of the club. Spurs are a big club with their name and tradition but the success in the pitch just isn't there.

I think their wage bill is so high because they have to pay that bit more to secure players to try to keep up. What they pay is what the higher cohort can pay with ease.

Andy G is a top grade tool.

And who the fuck is there to blame?? I'm sure Ange does blame himself FOR A TROPHY!!
And his points are just nonsense too. David Moyes turned Everton around because he fitted their style of play (and even then they still had a shit season). Bodø and Frankfurt are now Champions League teams so that’s that. Thomas Frank is the worst manager in 50 years now, so he’s stuck in the past. And for Mikel Arteta, he’s spent £700 million and won one FA Cup with Unai Emery’s team and a Community Shield. City and Liverpool spend that and win trophies each season.

I was talking the big leagues, not Scotland, but , hey nice try. I guarantee you, my little club is bigger than more than 90% of the English teams, including Spurs.
If Celtic or Rangers played in England they would never touch Champions/Europa League football. They’d be getting Conference League in a good season.

I have to disagree with this. Celtic and Rangers have massive supporter bases. If they had the money of the Premier League, they'd be challenging for the UCL. When money wasn't as much as a factor, Celtic won the Champions League (European Cup). There are still some big clubs in England (mmm London clubs) that have yet to win it.

If European cups are what we base size off then Spurs are bigger than Arsenal

That tells me that you don't know much about football.
And you know even less than your mate NicCarBel.
It's just funny, because what do you base big clubs off? You can't say a competition matters when one team wins it, and not when another does.

Is Greece's Euro 2004 triumph worth any less than others because they beat had only France and Spain as the 'big names' in the way? Fuck no.

Of course Rangers and Celtic will be bigger than 90% of the English clubs - there's a fuckton of them. In the EPL? Heck, even Nottingham Forest is probably bigger than Rangers.
