NFL 🏈 🇺🇸

Based on my limited knowledge of Spanish (which as a French and Italian speaker is the same knowledge an English speaker would have of Dutch and German) I didn't hear him say anything political, but again I can't speak Spanish.

At the Grammys however he said (in English, obviously with a thick Puerto Rican accent) when accepting his award "Before I wanna say, thanks to God, ICE out" (presumably meaning "ICE should stop deporting innocent citizens and killing people" rather than "destroy ICE" which is fair, though ICE needs reform not abolition). Much more mild than bloody Billie Eilish saying "nobody is illegal on stolen land" despite having a multi million dollar mansion on "stolen land" (I guess we can just walk in her mansion and make ourselves at home then?).

Meanwhile in Australia our celebs usually shut up about politics. Trump is a felon and possibly a pedo though to be fair.
The legal system makes convictions much harder as witness testimony is needed rather than documentation. That's what I read at least. That's bit to say documentation can't show wrongdoing.

Let's get convictions rolling out across the board. Lock them all up.

A very calculated display by the Seahawks to nullify the storing points of the Patriots. Worthy Superbowl teams and the best team the entire season won.

Such an abrupt ending again with trophy presented and then good night.

The artist and choreographer will decide on the show and HT shows have gone more and more away from the core NFL audience in order to drag more people in.

It gets people talking and you've just had a performance in a language the core customer hardly speaks, flags and cultural representation from an incredibly small cohort of what makes up the NFL. This probably doesn't have the biggest effect with those fans threatening to walk away but fans have over the years due to alienation on a range of topics.
and here in lies the mericanism of all their sports from way back.
All about the $ not what it does to its core product and supporter base that made it.
In some weird way they are suffering what has occurred to our game here - the haves have not eh :)
That Bunny bloke - I always liked latino vibes, its got rythem and some great artists.
Watched him win Song Of The Year thinks its the grammys.
He isn't good at english tbh - hardly said a word - his award acceptance was primarily in spanyal.
So get the organisers went for the latest hottest hipster.
Very broken engrish so I get the angst there on one of their treasured pinnacle most commercialised gig.
Anyway I have no interest but reading comments - a fellow business associate paid a friggin motza I mean motza being there with his fam worse prior went to Aspen !
Muz would be having cartwheels if I said what he has dished out, near on a deposit for a 2/3bedder apartement :)

A possible explanation could be the subset of people who only watch the half time show (despite the whole show literally going up on YouTube after the game). Kendrick Lamar is obviously a bigger artist in Australia than Bad Bunny (and probably in the US too).

But other than that, yeah really surprising especially with Mike Dickson playing. The average audience on Seven was down 258,000. Maybe more people used other platforms like Kayo?

Was Superbowl also on ESPN? Many avid NFL fans would also have NFL game pass with local commentary and broadcast.

There was also American commentary on Seven to be fair.

Patriots have a lot to improve going into the offseason but they should be off and running ready for another tilt at the Super Bowl come September when season 2026 rolls around.
I'm a Jets fan so they're guaranteed at least 3rd in the division. Bring on the Jets stupid draft picks again.

Darnold was picked by the Jets but the entire set up would never have seen him develop or succeed. The place is rotten. They've got these documentaries on how the individual coaches work with their player groups and plan and agree on execution in the game only to see the dumbest and laziest play on the weekend. It's embarrassing they even exist.

So surely he could have at least spoke his dialogue in English, right? In total I would estimate that maybe 23% of Americans can understand Spanish (which is a lot, but not the majority; 20% of Americans identify as Hispanic and they teach Spanish in schools now), but 96% can speak English including 78% natively (for reference Australia is slightly higher natively but lower in overall proficiency).

I also found it interesting that towards the end he listed every single Latin American country plus the US and Canada yet the flag bearers carried every American country, including those that don't speak Spanish like Aruba and Brazil.
Why does he have to speak English? They speak Spanish in Puerto Rico.

English is not my first language. But that's okay, because it's not America's first language either.

He’s the most popular artist in the world. He speaks in Spanish. Broaden your horizons.

He said nothing political. Was all positive. It was incredible.

Btw - he listed ‘America’, not ‘Latin countries’. America is the continent.

I’m glad he gave them a geography lesson. No wonder their heads exploded.

The guy is actually incredible. He has done so much for his country and people. It’s awesome he takes pride in his culture while spreading it in a positive way.
