But he has an issue with getting this team playing consistent football. That suggests to me he is more of a tactician than a man manager.

It was frustrating seeing us play so well on Monday, then probably dish up dogshit on Sunday in Gosford.

The premiers plate is there for the taking for anyone who is able to go on a run... and our fixtures over the next months isn't too bad. If we are going to make a move, now is the time.

I saw highlights of this game and like other games i've seen of MV is it his fault if his players cant convert sitters? I have no skin in the game but they were pretty dominant here just like the Sydney game but they butchered everything.

Lets be honest the A league doesnt have many top quality forwards and thats one of the reasons why the league is close and the results are so random.

I mean Diles was starting Reec for awhile and Velupillay is riding the bench so there have been options to set up differently. But it doesn't help.

I was mostly referring to Brox's comment that we were going to have a down game v CCM, rather than commenting on Diles. Though I'm not convinced by him.

This leads me to a couple of points.

1. Victory has had a problem finding a proper finisher ever since we let Toivanen go during the pandemic. This issue has been going on for 5-6 years and I don’t think the club has done anything near enough to address it.

For example, when we finished second last under Popa in 2023-23, did you know that we would have finished 4th if the ladder was decided on XG?

This season, we would actually be on top of the ladder based on Net XG (XG for v XG against) and would be second last (behind WSW) on XG score v actual goals scored.

I know some people don’t rate XG as a stat, but to me, it still highlights the issue we have had with poor finishing over a long period of time.

The club should have known Vergos wasn't up to it last season and should have found a way to get rid of him and bring someone else in. We are not ruthless enough.

2. Back to the game on Sunday, I think it was laughable that Reddy was MOTM. We had 9 shots on target, but Reddy did not have to move for any of them. None of them were miraculous saves. All the shots were straight at him that any keeper in the league would have made. It just highlighted how genuinely dogshit we were.

I’m impressed tha Reddy managed to win MoM for CCM given he last played for them 10 years ago

Yep. I don't mind leaning into the analytics but I feel like there's somethung to be said for a sure thing.

We needed to bring in someone like Cummings whose output you're pretty sure of. Vergos and Reec needed to be fucked off last season and new guys tried.

I feel like every team in the AL has or has recently had an exciting young number 9 except us. We've missed a good CF for a long time.
 
As an aside - I'd love to go and poach Peraic-Cullen. It's criminal Redmayne is getting played over him.
 
It's good to see Hammill back on the field clocking mins in a practice game for our youth team.

It's crazy we are only 7 points off top spot with 10 games left. Don't get me wrong, we don't deserve to be in the race for the premiers plate and there is zero chance we will mount a challenge... But we would be in the race if we were able to convert some of those missed chances over the course of the season.

Brisbane have lost 6 of their past 7. We really should be beating them at home. But we have only won 1 of our past 10 games against them (and 2 of our past 14 games). They really are a bogey team for us and I will be going in with no expectations.
 
Should be confident about this week's game but we have beaten by Mariners and Wanderers when they were last on the ladder.
