After looking at the Thailand game I thought Aus’s major problem was defensive cohesion and organisation - which can be quickly fixed on the training track.

If the problem is technique - it takes years to fix.
Chile 2017 Ange instructed us to press and go and we implemented that very well. We were a totally different team that day. If kids can follow simple changes and do it surely pros can.

I think it sucks that clubs won’t release players for national team duty - even if underage.

It could be a career highlight. It also gives reserve players a chance to play club football.
I agree and it's a common tussle. The suited and booted podcast episode with Adam Peacock had one of the hosts say he'd been called up and Kosmina said he was fine to go. The fear was sitting on the bench 3 times for Australia and the regressing on all the club fitness and seniority progress. Kosmina then phoned Berger and Berger said if he rejected the call up he'll never play for Australia again.

Bit flat. Everyone ahead of the ball. Got to involved Valadon.

Not enough for a penalty there I think as defender was reasonably stationary. Immediate penalty for ME teams though.

Steven Hall looks small for a keeper. Paull looking very shaky but Overy playing well at LB.
These are the oldest players he's ever faced. He really needs to get playing against men.

Same dumb moment of not clearing the initial danger and it lands perfectly for them to hit it.

I guess the defensive rule is always get something on it but those downward headers pose risks too. Luck of the draw.

After watching this team
I missed our U20 team that won the asian cup last year.

Zero creativity here in the midfield.

China have used a compact 5-3-2 defensive shape without the ball.

The Chinese coach is a bit like Popa. His defensive shape is paramount in BPO, above all else. The distancing between the lines, and the distance within the lines, is very good, and importantly compact. It is hard to penetrate and the Chinese coach has set China up not to worry about Aus having sustained spells in possession with the ball.

China have mainly threatened Aus on the break. The Chinese accelerated attacks have had Aus scrambling to regain defensive shape in the Aus Defensive Transitions. The Chinese goal came from a second ball that Aus failed to close down, after a defensive header from Paull didn't gain enough distance.

If we are weaker than Thailand at set piece with the height we have there s something wrong with this team.

Didn't think it was Paull with the header. But he hasn't looked comfortable

Blair has a casual shot saved and Dukuly stopped point blank.

Most AFC nations would go down like they were shot with that minimal arm to the face.
