They have plenty of interest and money, means they are highly successful.

You don't seem to have a very long attention span, although, in saying that you waited over thirty years for Liverpool to win a league championship.

All you have to say, is that you hate everything American!!!

The $ resource is plentiful hence the success for them.

5-day tests are great, between the right teams, of course.

Could you actually sit out in the sun and watch them though? A no from me.

Can't watch cricket any more. Now that I'm older all I can can feel is time passing that could be better used elsewhere.

When I was younger and living in Sydney, I used to watch a lot of live cricket and it reached a point where I realised that I was essentially watching the same game over and over again. There is fundamentally such a limited field of action in cricket, and the game ticks over with the monotony of a metronome. Which is why Mark Waugh famously said he couldn't sit through a test match. And he was still a player.

Yet, he does now as a commentator.

There is absolutely no noise about potential additions to the competition apart from possible reinstatement of WU, which I personally doubt.

My take on this: any potential investors will be waiting to see the outcome of next tv rights agreement before committing.

We can never know what is happening behind the scenes. Who knows, APL may actually do something other than sit on their collective hands for once.

I also hope to see a rhino fly past my window on pink wings.

There won't be any signficant increase on a TV deal with the league at 12 teams.

If anything, Paramount have likely offered less than what they are currently paying as the league has declined across the board.

Surely (I say this tongue firmly in cheek) the APLS have asked for proposals from the TV providers based on 14 teams, 7 games a weekend.

Its the only way there will be an increase.

Just confirming, the current TV rights deal expires at the end of this season? Is that correct?

Article dated 17 June 25

Paramount is set to actively pursue a fresh deal for rights to the A-Leagues as it enters the final months of its current agreement. It could face competition from Foxtel.

Paramount has kicked off discussions over a new deal for the streaming and broadcast rights to the A-Leagues, as the US streamer enters the final months of a $200 million agreement reached ahead of its 2021 launch in Australia.

Paramount is set to actively pursue a fresh rights agreement, according to people briefed on the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the discussions are ongoing. The current arrangement is up for expiry at the end of the 2025-26 season, which will finish in May next year.

The deal, struck with the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) for a reported $200 million over five years, was a key part of Paramount’s 2021 launch offering in the Australian market. The streamer has since secured select international rights and now bills itself as the home of Australian football.

I cannot believe this thread still has legs.

There is no expansion happening anywhere. Certainly not as long as you have the current closed league structure in place.

wonders aloud if for example do a Sydney Olympic and buy an A_league club i.e WU
Can certainly happen. SO leaders takeover CCM and eventually merge. Avondale do the same to WU. It's happened plenty of times in the past, teams from lower divs, or about to drop a tier, merge to stay in the higher div and consolidate facilities, staff, and finances.

But - it looks like Hanlin, Haliti and McKinna aren't long for Sydney Olympic
