Messi Retires - the end of an era

I don't see them as defining. I literally said he is a phenomenal athlete who deserves recognition for his on field exploits (maybe not the 2022 ballon d'or). I see them as things he should be rightly criticised for. I am simply highlighting the hypocrisy in how we can judge one player a...

Messi Retires - the end of an era

You were not the only one who responded to me when I said Messi is not a good person. Pile on was not simply about you If you want to turn the cheek thats fine. In saying that, if you are able to turn the cheek it means that he has done some wrong things, and therefore my view about him is...

Messi Retires - the end of an era

I mean, I would say Messi is just as provocative. Look at him in the final, trying to get Cucurella sent off for no reason. Petulant chidish behaviour. Calling Weghorst an "idiot" or "fool". That is provocative. Kicking a ball directly at Madrid fans for no reason, provocative. Messi has had...

Messi Retires - the end of an era

So why the big pile on when I say that Messi was not exactly a saint I never asked for Ronaldo's behaviour to be excused. I also don't think one is an outlier. I simply said that I admired him as a footballer, but think that when it came to his character and how he carried himself, I don't...

Messi Retires - the end of an era

I get that tribalism exists. I think I'm guilty of it at times with regards to United, but that's kind of irrelevant here. I think we need to be able to be critical of players when it is justified, and I feel like Messi is justified of the criticism. And I disagree with that and have provided...

Messi Retires - the end of an era

Thanks for proving one of my points. I don't like Ronaldo over Messi, but I hate that people have this constant need to prove one over the other. Has Ronaldo not managed to avoid the off-field controversies? Ronaldo was also extremely strict about his body and lived up to the highest standards...

Messi Retires - the end of an era

And that's exactly what conversation is. We can have difference of opinion. My view is that he is a phenomenal player who ranks as one of the best of all time, but still think as an individual, he doesn't carry himself well or set a great example.

Messi Retires - the end of an era

I'm not trying to impose or be controversial about anything. I've watched him his whole career. I am very much making my decision off observation and knowledge of him. Plus, those who defend Messi, yet shit on Ronaldo for the exact same thing, kind of adds to the view of him.

Messi Retires - the end of an era

Nah. That's too lazy an excuse. Other players can behave with dignity and grace under the same pressure, so I don't buy that argument. Plus, his behaviour at this world cup tipped the scales for me. You also literally make an argument for one player by saying, "it's the pressure of the game"...

    English Premier League 🦁

Honestly, can't say i'm surprised by the result. Our transfer window has shown no major ambition. We still have a lot of deadwood in the side, and they will perform for like 3 months and we'll be like, "oh my word, these guys are the best, what quality players". We don't even have a proper...

To use the same argument you used. Can you blame a player for wanting to make a living. They have a short career time frame. It's not their fault that they get offered that stupid money.

    Australian news and politics.

They can still be independent. What it means is that LNP and One Nation have shit policies they don't agree with, hence why they criticise them or vote against them. I think it's well known that many of the Climate 200 are those to moved away from the right, but didn't agree with Labor or Greens...
