Socceroos vs Paraguay 2026 World Cup match thread 🇦🇺🇵🇾

Julio Enciso stretchered off in tears during the match. It'll seriously hurt Paraguay's chances if he's out.

Interesting view, is there a reason you think that? I’ve historically largely voted Green. My parents are both rusted on labor voters and there’s nothing inner city about the shithole Sydney suburb I grew up in, nor do I have an investment portfolio (unless super counts!) From my interactions...

I think that's on a per capita basis, but I'd heard that before myself

Transgender rights are such a minor side issue, I don't understand why they get so much fucking airtime. With that said, I wonder what the Greens do in, say, 10 years if we continue to make such rapid progress on the energy transition. Their raison d'etre as a party is more or less gone.

According to the Register of Foreign Ownership of Australian Assets, about 0.8% of homes are bought by foreigners. It's not very many at all. By contrast, 20% is owned by investors, which is why the budgetary changes should have a really significant affect on house prices and the ability of...

It isn't a controversial topic now that you've explained your original misstatement.

You said "only Australian citizens", which would exclude permanent residents who don't have Australian citizenship.

    Australian Dual Nationals 🇦🇺🏳️

Everton were looking at Robertson a couple of years ago, before he proved beyond doubt he was an Australian footballer and promptly got himself injured. I think Robertson has a very high ceiling and we'll see his class next season if he strings together a good run of games in the Championship.

Who are you concerned are proxies, and who would they be proxies for?

I agree foreign residents shouldn't be able to purchase Australian properties, but surely those with Australian PR should be able to? They live here and pay taxes, and our country would be fucked without them.

    2026 World Cup Squad

I would have taken Rowles over Degenek because he can cover centre half as well as left back (at an absolute pinch). I can see a possibility where we might want to throw Bos further forward and having Rowles as a back up left back to Behich would have been helpful.

He's also 6'6 and so adds a different kind of proposition up front. I'd like to see him in the squad.

Haha thanks for that LFC. To be frank, a single paper from more than half a century ago isn't really what I thought would be presented to me when I made my post. To put it mildly, there's been some pretty significant scientific enquiry into the matter in the time since that article was published...

    Socceroos vs Mexico/Switzerland - Pre-World Cup Friendlies 2026 🇦🇺🇲🇽🇨🇭

Oh amazing, could you link me to that person's post? On your second point, my hesitance isn't so much about whether friendlies are "official" or "unofficial" (they appear to be the latter, which makes sense), and more whether they constitute a "competition" or not. My common sense...
