Well Decentric the thread is called 'Poppa Out' so you can't blame the thread for not wanting to buy the man roses. The manager should never be above criticism, and obviously many of us here feel that he did not achieve the most out of the squad or the games that we had. For me it comes down...

I wonder how many countries without a TD made it to the round of 16?

Roger Schmidt sounds good, but he's got a job with the JLeague as Global Sports Director. Also if he's managed PSV and Benfica I wonder how much he would cost? Could we afford him?

Would changing assistant coaches really be enough though? Apart from improving set pieces we also lack possession based attacking plans or counter plans if they are based on trying to pass to an isolated nestory

Look I really hope so. Think that after this WC some players will move up and hoping they get regular playing time. However even Cabo Verde was able to score more goals than us, and I think, will be corrected?, had only one less shot all WC, and a heap of their players play in nothing leagues...

Of course not, as I said I can hardly blame him to an extent. What I'm saying is FFA had at one stage a long term plan to move the Socceroos to an attacking style of proactive football based on research as to what works to get us to progress beyond just making up the numbers or only getting out...

I guess what I was trying to get at is that he isn't setting us up to play attacking football, but part of the blame also rests with his appointment. He was always going to set us up to play like that, and those that appointed him would have known that

The old NC outlines proactive, possession football with creative attackers. It was based on analysis of the teams in the 2006 WC that went deep into the competition. Not sure if any further analysis has been done on succeeding WCs , but suspect it'd be similar

My problem is he seems to have few ideas on how to win games, other than relying on individual players to jag a goal, but is busy making sure we don't lose. This is a tactical dead end and ensures we won't progress in the long term. It is hardly his fault, but the cowardice of the FFA who...

Japan, but also found out today Belgium as well. Seems the FA has identified a successful style like 17 years ago, but then didn't follow through with a TD to support or a coach who believes in that style?

So if they binned that approach from the original ntc was it replaced with anything? Was it flawed? I found a nc from 2013 that describes a football we aren't doing; it's proactive, possession based, creative combinations with effective possession

Haven't we had a national curriculum since 2009 based around a 4-3-3 Dutch model? Don't know, might be a few years old, did it change with Hans Berger? Like if we have then surely we commit not just to train, but play that way as well. No point training and aiming to play 'total football' but...

Mmm...alright, if we keep on with this style of football we will always be a mediocre team having to contend ourselves with being happy to get out of the group. Previous historical roo's teams have played a fast transitioning British style of football that surprised other teams by the aggressive...

Alright, hindsight is 20/20 but some things stuck out *Ref let the game get out of control. Bos looks badly hurt because players thought they could get away with wild tackles. Hope he is alright because he has been awesome *Poppa lost it. After the turkiye game the whole world saw the threat...

Soutar and Herrington had great games. Penalties is a rubbish way to go out, so be it, no recriminations on the players. Thought we couldn't keep possession and we're too slow in our attacking buildup. Irankundu wasn't allowed to run at players being so isolated, and should have been on the...

Why CBs taking penalties? Anyway, it was a ride. Thank you all the players for giving your heart for the jersey.

Ahh..last 7 minutes were painful. Gave ball away too easily and desperate clearances to no one. Extra time needs more composure and attack with purpose

Need a viduka style lone striker who can play attacking mids into the game. Ira is just getting mugged out there, not able to turn and run at goal. Maybe put ira on the left wing, shift Metcalf back and pull behickh off?
