    A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 25

So the knocking in the downpipe was not you, nor that weird spectral figure that is always hanging around when I get up for a leak. I could swear it is wearing a Roar scarf tho. It must be the ghost of the Roar of greatness past. It certainly looks appropriately depressed.

Ah yes, David Lewis - I have his book on what he calls modal realism. I cannot but feel that it is pointless to argue something is true if (a) you can't prove it is, and (b) you can't prove it isn't. Only one thing is certain: we just have one awareness so any other hypothetical universes...

And an empty echo chamber awaits the Roar yet again. Honestly, what a shambles they are.

Somewhere in the quantum universe of infinite possibilities, Greece and Australia will be lining up in the next final. Whatever score you predict will be correct in one universe, so you may as well celebrate!

    ALM TV Ratings

My perception is that it is the same in the UK and the US. TV is a lowest common denominator medium, and always has been. The drive from the broadcasters for the cheapest possible product is relentless - reality TV is very, very cheap product.. I've been involved professionally and it is a...

    ALM TV Ratings

All the stats for racing shows cratering interest. Those viewing stats are absurd. You really have to wonder about their figures being cooked.

    ALM TV Ratings

Bear in mind the ratings system is beyond a joke and does not account for streaming. It is a statistically absurd measuring system invented so the commercial television industy can sell time to the advertising agencies. Everyone in the industry knows it's a joke but as there is nothing else...

Exactly. There was a time I could attend games and I loved it. That was Suncorp in the Ange era... Didn't realise how lucky I was

That's unfair to jellyfish and I apologise to the jellyfish community. Unlike APL, jellyfish have an organised nervous system.
  14. Frankly Speaking

    A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 24

The fact is that under their watch media coverage has gone from minimal to non existent. Ffs we have CFG in our corner! We have muscle. So why does the APL show all the spine of a jellyfish?
  15. Frankly Speaking

    A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 24

Yeah I get that. I'm too far away to attend so it's all tv for me.
  16. Frankly Speaking

    A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 24

Agree. I just wish there was some sign of a plan or a vision for the future from APL, but there is nothing to even suggest brain activity in the organisation. If this was a hospital they would be talking about organ harvesting, not that the APL would have anything worth saving.
  17. Frankly Speaking

    A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 24

Yes but the current model involves significant losses year on year with no prospect of change. I doubt that satisfies any definition of sustainable. My frustration is that APL do absolutely nothing to build the competition. The only capability they have shown is incompetence.
  18. Frankly Speaking

    A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 24

The average is fine only if the competition is financially sustainable. I suggest that is not the case.

40000 is a more accurate figure but yes that is still a lot of lost fans. The A League has a serious reputational problem and I have no idea how it can be fixed. It's not quite where the NSL was but it's getting alarmingly close. Zero media presence. Chicken and egg... Zero presence because the...

16k is a very poor attendance, but the context must be considered. Sydney have been playing very ordinary uninspiring football for some time, and the Wanderers are an absolute basket case wooden spoon favorite. If both teams were flying and playing good football, I think the game would be a...

Well, actually, he could belong to any one of a long list, including WGAF, Australia's most popular religion. Bizarre idea, though, Easter. A repurposed Roman fertility festival. Rabbits with baskets of eggs, chocolate, and crucifixion. Quite the combination.

Hard to see Volpato ever being invited to an Australia camp again. What a dumb decision. He could be playing at this World Cup and has a snowflake's chance in hell of playing for Italy.

Brattan is a classic case of player who is too old and makes up for his lack of speed by relentless dirty play. He's become a blight of a player.

Brisbane are in genuinely terrible shape as a club. Nothing is working. Valkanis surely must go at season's end but I really don't know how these club is resurrected from here. It is absolutely in the gutter.
