World cup 2026 Draw

yep it no matter as they say lets play.
Yep. I tend to think we play better against the better teams, where we don't have much possessions, where our DNA, work hard & defend vigorously & hope for a counter attack goal.
When we play weaker teams & we have the ball we don't know what to do with it.

well its been a long time since we dominated some NT games as well so yer - were a counter punch dna full stop even though I wish that could change just a little one day.

Wouldn't mind viewing the official computer once a few balls are drawn but seeing they already have places to put UEFA teams to ensure a spread, the possibilities aren't endless.

So much misinformation out there. Something about Mexico's opening game being against Pot 3 but every slot is also individually drawn. High likelihood perhaps.

Nope - every slot has already been predetermined by Pot/Group

Essentially there are 3 principles (that they'll skip over groups to maintain across the draw) - well.. one doesn't affect how teams are drawn, but just that there's no random draw to select initial placement in the group as there normally is (Appendix B). This is how @GoAussies was able to determine the 12x match placements based off where we could be drawn.

For pots 2, 3 and 4, a predetermined pattern has been established to define the group position that teams are drawn into, depending on which pot they come from (Appendix B).

Appendix A refers to, specifically Spain, Argentina, France and England. They will randomly drawn into a quarter as above, but on opposite pathways. So if Spain is drawn first out of Pot 1 (Group C), then when Argentina is drawn, they must be placed into either Group E, F, G, H or K.
In the interest of ensuring competitive balance, two separate pathways to the semi-finals have been established, as per Appendix A below. In accordance with this and in order to have a balanced distribution of the teams, the four highest-ranked teams in the FIFA/CocaCola Men’s World Ranking, when drawn, will have the following constraints. The highestranked team and the second highest-ranked team will be randomly drawn into groups in opposite pathways, and the same principle will also apply to the third and fourth highestranked teams. This will ensure that, should they win their groups, the two highest-ranked teams would not meet before the final.
I'm still tempted to do a manual draw again - just to see how much skipping over there will need to be.

Oh they've changed that too. Well, that should save time. We have three host nations so that's three separate cultural performances in the two hour entertainment before the draw.

I've seen the splitting of the top seeds at either end. These provisions should see some clearer pathways like in 2022 when we could see our group was only one of two possible despite five or so being open.

Difference is - we are Pot 2 now, so we'll be drawn earlier into the process. Looking at the draw, essentially Pot 2 will be the quickest one to do - It won't matter if a second UEFA team gets drawn out of Pot 2, so less skipping over, and no separation of seeded teams.

Commonwealth games is a farce nobody really cares about
the empire 'commonwealth' games are an anachronism which will cease to exist within the next 20 years. australias important links in this century will see us (hopefully) play in tournaments such as ASEAN ones. despite the anglo dinosaurs desperately clinging to a 19th century euro dominated world, this future is unavoidable.

So that's why the Mexico opening game was so clearly against certain pot 3 possibilities. Many calling for a 2010 rematch!

I agree but in the meantime, ⚽ in this country could still do a hell of a lot worse than (try to)tap into that to its advantage, however temporary/small that advantage turns out to be💡

Australia just drew norway and brazil in my simulator :S

Not fussed who we draw, as long as its some variety from the past 2 WC.
Based on not drawing a side we have played 2006-2022 leaves a few combos, if we draw a host we can't draw Panama, Curacao, Haiti or an intercontinental qualifier and we must draw at least one of Norway/Scotland from pot 3 or a pot 4 EUFA playoff winner.

If we draw one of the 3 EUFA pot 1 teams we can draw a maximum 1 of Norway/Scotland from pot 3 or a pot 4 EUFA playoff winner.

We have played WCQ against NZ, Scotland and New Caledonia but I am including them in the "Fresh Meat" list.

As we haven't played a CONCACAF or OFC team at the World Cup Finals yet it would be novel to get at least one of those ticked off this time. As we play a Pot 1 team either MD2 or MD3 Ronaldo would be available for Portugal vs Australia even if banned for MD1.

Pot 1 : (hosts) United States, Mexico and Canada, (other) England, Portugal and Belgium
Pot 3: Norway, Panama, Egypt, Algeria, Scotland, Paraguay, Ivory Coast and South Africa
Pot 4: Cape Verde, Curacao, Haiti, New Zealand, UEFA Play-off Qualifiers 1-4 (excluding Denmark and Italy) and Confed Play-off Qualifier (non Iraq playoff group)

My simulator just drew close to the worst possible draw for Oz... Argentina, Tunisia and Italy.
