"You don't solve the Nazi problem with laws that erode our civil liberties. You don't get us closer to social cohesion by arresting people."

So the Libs and Nats want the Government to fund and undewrite new power stations.

Sounds a like like socialism to me.

Seems they've abandoned their 'let the market decide' mantra.

FWIW I think think the government should own and operate power stations or, at the very least, legislate that the cunts taking it out of the ground are giving it to us at a heavily discounted rate.

It is literally true, due to previous fucked up contracts, that it is cheaper for us to go to Japan and buy gas to import to Australia THAT CAME FROM AUSTRALIA than it is to buy it here. Absolutely mental.

That is the LNP way. Privatise the profits. Socialise the costs.

$96 million for a website?! Wouldn't you have loved to land that contract.

Do these pricks not know how to put out a tender and get an agreed contract price FFS?

Yesterday late afternoon and early evening SEQ was hit by a huge hail storm. Lots of damage in the Northern Gold Coast ~ Southern Brisbane corridor....

There was little in the way of warnings from the BoM about hail.

The independent Higgins Storm Chasing had their predictions more or less right.

This afternoon Higgins are once again predicting another possible giant hail storm. In fact they are framing it as "a nuclear hailstorm'....

I'm not even going to bother checking the BoM. Whoever is in charge of dong their storm modelling for SEQ needs to be asked into the office to give an explanation.

BoM needs a serious sudit.

Absolutely shocking numbers...

This is where it all went.

Through Senate estimates, it has been revealed that, as part of that larger IT system overhaul, consulting firm Accenture received $78m in a contract for the website aspect. BoM has faced criticism in the past few years for the nine contract extensions made on the Accenture contract – which was originally supposed to cost $31m.

Deloitte also received $35m for its work – a contract that was originally supposed to cost $11m.

Pollies get lobbied, give consulting work worth billions to their mates, consultancy fees eat up most of the work, the end result is sub par, then the pollies blame the departments that had the consultants forced upon them.
