We should try to get involved in the ASEAN Championship. Looks like it is deemed an official tournament by FIFA now and would help with caps and cap tieing players. Last time played Dec-Jan but normally Nov-Dec in home & away format. I think format would be good for A-League based players with a few overseas based players.

Held every 2 years so next one would be late 2026. Although Asian Cup is January 2027

We have been trying to enter it since the 2020 comp. We were denied for that and the 2022 comp because we were too "superior". For 2024, "Australia, a member since 2013, did not enter the tournament, due to restriction imposed by the AFF"

In short, they don't want us. I agree that we should be playing in it though.
