Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

I would have kept Brennan as part of squad depth in case there were injuries/suspensions. But with the quality that’s come in, it would be unlikely that Brennan would start.
Normally i would say the same for depth but wages for a player like brennan are a waste. with that starting front line the gap in quality between them and brennan is huge (bonada can fill the role better if needed).. trimming more fat is essential imo and i know i will be told yhere will be longer season next year etc but better off with a younger player that can fit in as needed, unless brennan type players are being paid peanuts in which case my argument is totally flawed.. lol.

You definitely raise valid points. It does come down to budget quite often unless he’s prepared to take a pay cut. Probably not likely.

Looks like we did play a behind closed door game against Heidelberg…. At Heidelberg no clue of the score

With au cup final for one club and beyond thereafter for both i doubt either side had the intention to come out to play more than they did to stretch legs!

You are correct but the au championship is based on the old champs league model. Correct me if im wrong but the uk doesnt have that group stage model in any comp im pretty sure!
They used to in the Scottish league cup, but for the quarters and semi-finals, it was two-legged home and away. You are correct on the UCL, but that was only in 1993-94, then it went two legged.
