Exactly. I think the two clubs coming up are ready for NPL (South East United have demolished the south for a while, and Ulverstone seem to have some cash behind them with sending the team interstate to play friendlies). And there seems to be a clear two to go down, but as I mentioned before, it's short notice to remove them this year. Lauceston United have been bottom two for a few years, as has Clarence Zebras (who failed to merge with Olympia in the tier below).wait so next season they have relegation, but not promotion? Why on earth are they going to 10 then?
Why go back to 8? I guess FTas don't see any others below that meet NPL standards. There are teams like Northern Rangers that perform strongly, but they left the NPL years ago and don't want to join again for some reason. Maybe they don't like travel and have zero ambition.
Now that's an intersting thought. Historically, I'd say NPL SA & QLD were ahead of next tier down in VIC & NSW. But I feel things have swung in the last year as there's a player drain from SA & QLD towards VIC & NSW thanks largely to the guaranteed Championship teams. And I don't think that will stop anytime soon. VIC & NSW will get a hefty head start by poaching the best from everywhere else.I would hazard a guess that NPL VIC, NPL NSW, VPL1 & FNSW1 would still be the top 4 levels followed by NPL QLD, NPL SA, then the rest
