The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

Question. If Preston and/or South move to A-League, does that set back a Championship league for many years to come? I know this has been brought up before, but it seems closer than ever to becoming reality.

26-27 has been mentioned as a joining date, just when a league format is needed for the Championship. Is it a legitimate worry for killing it off?
South, as far as I know, is not looking to buy an Aleague license mate... its a bit of spurious reporting... and a bit of bluster from a now ex president from our side.... Weirder things have happened but It would be a sad day indeed if it came to pass, the Championship getting up and running (at least for me) is far more important.

Don’t worry, by 2034 (probably earlier) the pyramid will be joined ,hopefully with pro/rel.
We will all live happily ever after.🤩

You're right, and I see it almost similar as when Soccer Australia/FFA ostracised those migrant clubs for decades, and it consequently didn't get many of those fans onboard for A-League. Although, Adelaide is a bit different. The Italians, Greeks, Croatians and others joined them without abandoning their local club, it just seems to work there, United they are. Maybe because they joined United during the NSL? Maybe because City and Hellas failed and United came to the rescue? Which is a bit different from fans of a successful club like South being booted? Who knows. I'm rambling now haha.
No disrespect to the Adelaide clubs but they seem to be less about their CLUB over there and more about the whole Adelaide vs the world mentality....

They were letting these clubs in because the new clubs had $$$ and all the other clubs were struggling.
Well it was a mixed bag, many of them had money, until they didnt lol.

The leadership of soccer australia at that point was not far off what the ffa was, it wasnt some wog run joint. To answer why nobody complained about pro/rel, put simply the foundation/old nsl clubs were just trying to survive from being booted out for the franchises. That administration had no interest in it.

Preston were really the only club who would claim "they belonged in the nsl" but they were never going to get in over the franchises.

I couldnt think of a bigger travesty if it happened... for it not to happen they need to give a date for h&a! Clubs can then commit porperly, as long as that remains a concern anything can happen!

Found it interesting Souths never averaged more than 8k in any given season. Maybe they just weren't as big as people are saying. Clubs like, Perth, Adelaide, Northern Spirit and Newcastle were much bigger. Considering Victory is easily averaging over 10k, and were almost at 20k at once stage, what is Victory doing that Souths didn't? Were South happy to go along as they were, or were they struggling to attract new fans?
