I thought he declared at the end of last season he was definitely staying with St. Pauli so I was surprised by this announcement. Anyway, good luck to him.

Could have said that about the Bundesliga. I think his strengths will come to the fore and he'll make a fist of it like he always has. It is an unusual fit.

Since the news has broken German social media comments are going hard on his woeful technical ability while compliments come for his team player attitude. Bundesliga needs a few physical types.

More than probably. Even better than the last 3 years of the gg when they were declining. Back to 2010ish attack with a 2006ish defence

He's an odd player Irvine in that his passing is quite good and he moves to the receive the ball very well, constantly opening passing lanes, but when he actually receives the ball his touch and handling speed are so bad. Then off the ball in BPO he is brilliant.

But those times he receives the ball he constantly loses possession and puts the team under pressure. He is one of our last non technical players along with Miller. Behich, Metcalfe, Trewin, Devlin and ONeill are borderline.
