Even if that's the case there's no guarantee that Marcus Neill will fit into the Popaball system or that he'll be given a Socceroos callup at senior level any time soon.
Really??? I am amazed that a young player who has never played a senior game is not first in line to be called up by Poppa at the next available opportunity.

The way his Dad's career ended for Australia, I wouldn't count on the younger Neill playing for Australia.
Right! I was at that game and was so ashamed that Aussie supporters were booing him. It was Ange's first game in charge too.

It was a shame to treat such a legend of the Socceroos so poorly in what should have been a fairwell match. If his son opts for Australia, I will be shocked.

Need a redemption story for Neill, I wonder if he’d make a good pundit. Though the bar isn’t set high

I agree that it was totally fucked the way that Lucas Neill was treated.Like you I was ashamed and appalled.

I would take ANYONE over Wilkshire. Until I heard Luke in action I thought Moss was the worst, but at least Moss is simply human Valium. Wilkshire is like talcum powder up your nose.
Or like having to listen to a braying donkey. Take your pick.
Sorry Luke - I'm sure you are a good bloke and you are a good coach, but, mate, punditry is not your gig.
You hear how good Eric Paatalu is, by contrast. Informed, lucid, and with a speaking voice that actually works for tv.

Agree. I just watched Australia-Egypt on SBS on-demand on the weekend, as I was at the game live but hadn't seen the replay yet. Basheer and Wilkshire were very difficult to listen to. I thought the Fox Sport punditry on the games that I watched on TV in the USA were terrible, but unfortunately Luke Wilkshire is no better.

I agree the booing was bad, though I think his time had come to hang up the boots.

Why? Even his dad is still remembered positively by fans now. He was a legend. He played for four English clubs. It’s not like he was some outcast like, say, Josip Šimunić (who didn’t play for us but was overall a controversial figure).
