Australian transfers 26-27 Summer

Newly promoted clubs have a slightly better than 50% chance of staying up.

So it’s a coin flip for Herrington, there’s no doubt about that.

More to the point, Lucas will be doing a lot more duelling, defending his own box rather than being on the ball, which is a shame.

I was hoping to see Lucas at a more settled club to be honest.

I'm guessing he will fight it out with Hughes. Lucas is much taller and better on the ball. Will be interesting.

Now we just need Nestory in the EPL and we're golden lol

Everton wouldn't be too bad under Moyes I can see him getting his arm around him and guiding him a bit more on the field.

If I was Hull I'd buy souttar, herrington and irankunda. Reasonable buys when you think about it. They might scrape through by the skin of their teeth if that happens.
I hope this comments ages well. Seems like a no brainer to me if they want a small chance of staying up

If there is a talent like Lucas Herrington there is a pretty good chance they are more talented players like him in the system it all comes to down to whether they are identified, developed and eventually sold so the next one has a place to do the same…

That’s how functional development systems work as well, not sure what these clubs have been doing all of this time if more aren’t given the scope like Lucas has been given.
It seems like a really short time ago, Herrington was only 3rd choice CB for the Aus u 20s!

Kikianis and Esposito kept him out of the team as first choice CBs.

I am from Hull and whilst I think its a big thing for the lad I cant help feeling hes going to regret not moving to a more technical league like Spain. The kind of player he is I think playing in Spain would have really developed him into a top player where as going to a team that with the best will in the world will undoubtedly struggle he is going to be tested in a much more physical environment where its simply sink or swim so I hope he swims because he is a real talent that needs good players around him to develop to that next level. Souttar would have been a better choice for Hull but I hope Im proved wrong and the lad takes it all in his stride

Well Brisbane Roar really screwed the pooch on this one. I wonder which of their resident geniuses green lit losing any sign on percentage for 500k, as was reported ?
It was the Indonesian owners. There was a statement from the club. The ownership made the football department do the deal, and reading between the lines the football department wouldn't have done it. But they're beholden to the owners so their hands were tied.

This illustrates some of the pitfalls of private ownership to me, because they often don't have the best interests of the Australian game in mind when they make decisions.

It was reported by Football360(?) that Brisbane sold most of their 20% sell on clause to Colorado, so they’ll only receive another $500/600K. Still somewhere in the $1.2-1.5 million range in total. While it could have been a lot better, it’s could also have been worse.
Edited Update: Today’s Football360 article says they will make $3 million in total and that they missed out on $1.8 million.

Amazing how things can change so quickly in football
If we even go back to a year or two ago, players who looked secure in Socceroo careers have made one bad choice for their UEFA club of choice, and a few injuries, and they' ve lost a year's development, Robbos.

Gee, things change quickly. Then Herrington comes from nowhere. Ditto the young SFC midfielder - whose name I don't even know?

Hence, other young stars are now nowhere near the national team - Niuewenhof, Teague, Farrell, Jake Hollman, Tilio, Arzani.

Where is Max Balard now? He had some good Eredivisie seasons. I think his Dutch club has been relagated.

Balard had some good Socceroo games, struggled as a sub against Colombia - bang! Gone from the Socceroos!

If he plays the rest of Europe will start looking at the a-league for talent.
To the best of my knowledge, after some of the G and G Podcasts, where Grazor has hosted Petar Petrov, a pro scout, and Aussie Scout, they are looking and think the AL is a cheap market for UEFA clubs.

Also, that we sell players far too cheaply compared to other bigger Asian leagues - I think Aussie Scout said.

Ta, K.

Football 360 is a good site that I follow, but we can't read everything. Sometimes the articles don't load too.
