So Noa Skoko just started and played 64 mins in Hadjuk Split's 2nd leg Eupopa league qualofying first rd.

Starting such an important game for that level of club at the age he is, should really be looking to cap him.

I'm of the opinion - now that qualifying is relatively simple in the first round for us now - once players start to play games like this and they have dual nationality, we should be capping them enough to lock them in.

Exactly. Guys like this and Liam Chipperfield whose played over 50 games in the Swiss league, should be getting capped.

Even guys that arent dual nationals but have genuinely shown promise like Overy, Smyth, Peupion, Bennie and Matthews should be brought in.

Surely something like this would be appealing to a cash-strapped FFA. The idea of camps in Europe and the UK seems really simple and convenient. We all know there’s heaps of Aussies over there. Have a couple of camps in easy to access locations and get people there. Travelling between countries in Europe is quite simple and relatively cheap; why couldn’t it work?

Moreover, with all their new dual citizenship Eredivisie players, plus plenty of other UEFA based top division pros playing for Indo, it could be just as hard getting an Indo cap as an Aussie cap.

Because he probably won’t make the Socceroos squad. He’s not terrible but is he really blowing us all away? As a 20-year-old winger he’s still playing for Macarthur FC. He’s competing for the same position as Nestory Irankunda who’s the same age (a few months older) but already plays for Watford and is linked to even bigger clubs.

I think he is a big loss for olympic qualifiers

He is a level where the roos seem a stretch but is probably a standout in the a league by the time qualifiers are around

Had he stayed with the Socceroos, he almost certainly makes the squad—especially with McGree out—and gets decent minutes given our focus on wingers. That World Cup exposure would've been a game-changer for him. He could well have found himself in the same transfer talks right now as Irankunda, Okon-Engstler, Beach, Circati and Herrington.

I'm hoping that other dual nationals—Skoko, Chipperfield, Arena, G.Okon etc.—realise how massive a World Cup platform is for career progression.

We have lost Segecic. There's no coming back under current FIFA rules. It's done and it's a big loss.

He'd have to now appeal to fifa to have his one time switch reversed ever since he played for their under 21s.

This is where Popa could have stepped in and tried salvage things before he got the Croatian under 21 cap. Popa seems too proud though.

Its a bad result for both us and Segecic as he will barely get any caps for them.

Tbf though since we capped Volpato theres less need for Segecic as Volpato, McGree and Metcalfe are ahead of him as left footed wingers. But definitely would have got several caps at least as 4th choice right now and possibly surpassing Mcgree and Metcalfe in a couple of yrs. And 4th right now is still a lot closer than he is now with Croatia.

Need to be capping him, Overy, G Okon, Chipperfield, skoko and Arena asap to prevent another Seric, Simunic, Ergic, Golum, Dykes, Triantis and Segecic situation.

The cynic in me thinks his "selection" in the preliminary squad was just a token gesture for swapping allegiances—he was never actually going to make Croatia's final cut. He's made his bed now (which may in future prove to be the right one) but going forward I hope the raised profile of our World Cup Roos serves as a reminder to other dual nationals about what wearing the Socceroos shirt at a World Cup can actually do for a career.
