Socceroos vs Egypt - 2026 World Cup R32 - Sat 4th of July 4am AEST

Overall to many rookie coach mistakes in this wc from Poppa and his staff and at a wc tournament football you can't get it wrong. 2 games he has persisted with Nestory out of position losing his pace and skill we saw against Turkey. The debacle of the first half against 🇺🇸 tactically wrong and lineup wise. Today we score we we're on top of the game we go in.our she'll not push on , but try to not loose the game instead go for the win and extra time same tactics. Unless that mentality changes it will hold us back. The substitution of Volpato today was baffling and he wasn't happy rightly so. Toure is either injured because he was utter garbage not even effort at times. Our whole penalty shoot out looked botched no strategy.

Can’t agree with that. Physically, yes we are powerful, but we don’t dominate Asia.

I never said we dominate the region, just that our physical strengths are enough to get us in with the amount of spots Asia has and we appear happy to rest on that. I cant say i enjoyed many of our qualifying games either. The one we beat Japan 1-0 with Behich at the end we pretty much never went past the halfway line.

Yeah but he was regarded as a bad pen saver by the commentators so the % of saving the pen at Brighton must be very bad. Lkke ESPN panel said Ryan got a shorter hand and thats a disadvantage
Tbf I don’t think Beach would have saved any either. They were all solid, well-taken penalties.

He cant defend tho. It would be an ugly score vs Turkey. Like i told you it would be like canada in the last WC.

Canda got better squad than us in qatar
Ange is Al Nassr manager now anyway.

We've got people saying Ange would be a sound manager with Japan yet their defence is worse than Australia so there's the imbalance.

Wasnt Beach in a lenghty penalty shootout for melb city recently and pretty much got nowhere near them?

I think they both struggle but you gotta keep the bloke in thats got form and confidence. Beach will never forgive Poppa for that.

The one with Japan was a splendid result. That was one game well suited to Popa’s style. Japan is clearly too good for us to go toe to toe with. Egypt, Paraguay and USA really shouldn’t be.

I think it's fair enough. Perhaps he reaches the first one going the right way. Tough job.

God if Souttar rolls it into the corner then it's a stable shoot out.

I was so nervous each time we took one. Hrustic had to be 4th.

Two of the four were virtually down the middle.😳
Enough to deceive a keeper. Ryan occasionally stays central too.

Tonight he should've risked it with Salah and caught it.

Yeah the Souttar one killed us. By the time it got to Herrington, it was pretty much over.

Ryan should have been first. He has taken them before, was the freshest set of legs, most experienced and given his charges a morale boost.

Agree with what most are saying. Pens are pens. It’s a lottery and some of the greatest f them. It was the nonsense from mid second half on. Egypt looked gassed as well and we just let them off the hook. Now I’m tired and have kids to look after, yes the kids are my fault, but I’m still happy to blame Popa a little.

If Toure has been carrying a slight injury we should be starting Yengi. Yengi has been low key pretty great in the moments he's been on and would have been a much better option to hold up play than Irankunda.

I know it’s a lottery but any player would prefer facing a small keeper over a larger one.
The height is a myth when it's about jump power to get to a side.

There's an expectation keepers have arms 2 metres long. Why don't Sanchez or other tall keepers reach the ball when going right way.
